Yes, you should get the books you mentioned above. You might not need ICD-9, depending on your situation. I am working in risk adjustment/HCC coding and we are still using ICD-9 since we are working on DOS before 10/1/15 but we will switch to ICD-10 early next year when we start coding more recent reports. If you are working on more current reports (after 10/1/15) you will be coding in ICD-10 now. I read her book in addition to the AAPC CPC course and found it helpful. She explains things a bit better than the AAPC course did. I would recommend also coding some practice reports along with reading her book.
