I'm afraid that is the problem. I have no degree. Even the low level clerical jobs are being sought by people with degrees so I obviously don't stand a chance. You would think years of experience would count for something. Even though it's been a while, I did everything there was to do in a doctor's office, including work in the back with a patient, with no certification or degree. Like you said ex-MT2, times have changed.
