Company Board

Don't hyperventilate. Many companies hire other companies to - administer employee benefits, payroll....(sm)

...because the laws, federal and state, are incredibly complex, you just about have to have expensive computer programs, you have to hire people specialized in the field, etc., and also simply because this isn't what companies like iMedx do to make money, so they outsource this business function.

You will often receive communications from the company administering benefits that have absolutely nothing to do with anything operational that's going on with the company you work for. These communications are usually sent out in compliance with federal or state law, or simply for reasons of keeping people current on their benefit status, etc.

To the person who received the letter from the administering company and got laid off the same day - YES - it was a coincidence.
