What you missed - Coder

Clearly, you are very proud of your accomplishment, and you should be. As you noted, many people fail the CPC.

It is possible to teach yourself to code, especially if you are very intelligent, as you appear to be. However, I should point out that you passed by only one point. That deficiency is going to carry over into your work. Clearly, you missed something somewhere ... about one-third of what you were supposed to have known.

So, to answer your question about what Andrews has that you did not have ... they have the material and instruction that comprise that one-third that you don't know, and they also have everything covered on the CCS except for the smidge of ICD9 coding and maybe 30% of the CPT. That includes the specialty material on the COC exam and the CIC exam.

The only way you will know for sure is to take the CCS. You can't, though, because you do not meet the qualifications. Meeting the qualifications is another thing Andrews has.

Now,if you work in inpatient coding for two years, you could take it. However, an Andrews grad will have a two-year head start on you. That is going to translate into money, which will easily cover the cost of tuition.
