ortho word "simple (something) suppressor" - ggmt

Posted: Feb 11, 2010

Patient has erythema and edema of right foot.  Doctor says he is going to try "simple (something) suppressor with anti-inflammatories".  The something s/l "allo meta thotic" but is garbled/slurred and all I can really be sure of is "thotic" at the end.

He could have gout - - MTMom

Treatment would be a uric acid suppressor, such as allopurinol. Don't know what the "thotic" could be.

don't think it's gout - ggmt

Thanks though. Patient recently had a cheilectomy. It definitely has "thotic" or "othotic" or "orthotic" at the end. It might be 2 words.

Maybe it's a type of orthotic for support after surgery/nm - MTMom

I think you're right - thanks! s/m - ggmt

I think it might be "simple metal orthotic", although "suppressor" doesn't sound right there. He's clearly stumbling and of course that's right where the tape gets weird. Thanks!
