I have got 4 accounts now, 2 of which seem - like overflow - anyone else?

I am just wondering if this is the new policy, or maybe just my little area of Nuance. It seems as if, despite my protestations, I am now forced to have 4 accounts, two of which I am unfamiliar and seem rather generic and never seem to have anyone working on them full time. On the other hand my primary and secondary are always decimated because so many people are on them now so I am forced to do the crappy overflow ones.

I really hate having more than 2 accounts, except when things are really slow, because with the razor sharp FIESA attacks, if you don't know the specs you are swimming in shark waters and you will get massacred.

Knowing the specs inside and out is one of the few ways we can increase production nowadays, and it seems by spreading the work so thinly and having these overflow accounts forced on us they are again working to lower our line count and set us up for FIESA triumphs (over us - it's obvious the biggest dynamic in this MTSO is now FIESA vs. MT or whatever they call us now).

I guess when there is no work (because they no doubt overhired or cannot manage the scheduling properly) I could study up on the specs, but still the very fact you are made to switch back and forth with massively differing specs and some really peculiar ones is an attack on our productivity and accuracy.

Anyone who has done this job knows that both client and MT are happy when the person doing the transcription knows the rules of that account, so I have to think again whoever is making these kinds of rules has never done the job, knows and cares nothing about what actually works for good productivity and happy clients. They are, again, just in it to depress our incomes and increase the ability to brag at the shareholder meetings. Ugh.

Without even explaining what it's for! I am wondering if Nuance now pay people full time to come on these boards and dislike anything that might hurt their stock price or something. Honestly.

I would appreciate an explanation why this is in any way dislike-able, but obviously you are entitled to your opinion and to not have to explain yourself on these boards.

So I guess you think this policy is great then?

It is entirely possible that someone dislikes that you are in that position. Dislikes can represent any number of opinions and the dislike does not always represent a disagreement with your position.

I know for a fact my secondary does not have - any primary MLS on it...

The TSM told us so in an e-mail to the group recently that there are many accounts that do not have a primary MLS. Also, I think I am the only person on it as the reports never go away until they turn yellow and get sent around to whoever is logged on. My primary is pretty steady all the time so what exactly is going on with the TSMs? How can they over book some accounts and leave others completely lacking a primary MLS??!!

I shudder to think this must be some new and heinous "management" theory.

As the client, wouldn't you demand to have at least one or two exclusive MLSs who are familiar with your account? Or is it just overflow for them and maybe they are getting a cut rate or something?

The strange thing is that one of my overflow accounts has a really long list of specs which are different from any other account I have done, which begs the question - wouldn't that account particularly deserve dedicated MTs?

It seems ridiculous to me when they are hiring new people they just dump them all on our established accounts. Again, the God of TAT seems to be reigning.

What matters? Not what's best for the client, not what's best or most productive for the MR, just that they can accomplish TAT.

unpredictable. If someone were assigned as a primary on the account, they could be work on a secondary account more than the one they are dedictated too. I think a bigger problem is the TAT on many of those overflow accounts. It is ridiculous for the company to sign a contract that allows the hospital to dump 20-30 reports with a 2-4 hour TAT. Some nights they might drop a lot of work, say if a transcriptionist is on vacation, and then some nights next to none. Trying to staff around that must be horrendous.

And that might almost be enough. If I didn't have an account that I knew so well and have done for years, I might volunteer, because it is better to be the sole MT on an account and have just enough work for one, than everyone having it as a secondary. Happy MT, happy client.

Maybe some of these accounts are unpredictable, but the ones I see, annoyingly, always seem to have plenty of work while my primary and secondary have been picked clean, so I am left to clean up their dregs.

The overflow accounts I see also don't seem to have huge dumps as you report - just more of a steady buildup because no one is typing their work regularly, and then the inevitable stats which are really annoying.

I think even if you are assigned to a primary and end up typing a lot more on your secondary (haven't we all done that even when there is a lot of work usually on our primary) it is better than having no dedicated MTs for an account, both from the MT POV and the client IMHO.

I work on 6 accounts (different unaffiliated acute care hospitals and a couple trauma centers), but am quite used to them since I worked on them prior to my former employer being bought out. Good thing about having multiple accounts is that I rarely run out of work. If I do get NJA, there is more work within an hour. I would get really bored working on only 1 or 2 accounts, but that is just me. But I certainly understand folks wanting only 1 account to work on.

The accounts that were with my previous MTSO did not follow with the Nuance takeover and getting up to scratch with new accounts when you are under such scrutiny with FIESA is no picnic.

If they were all familiar and you already knew the specs I don't think it is too many accounts, just I hate the pressure of the FIESA.

You are complaining about having 4 accounts! Come to MModal where on any given day I do about 25 and not one of the account specs are even close to the same.

At Nuance I had to actually log out to check my "other" accounts. Only one account was loaded at a time on the platform.

At MModal I do work on a TON of different accounts, but at least I don't have to log in and out 12 times a day. Fluency is so much better than eScription, IMHO.

Getting out of Nuance was the best thing I ever did and I say that as an employee of a now bankrupt company.

I am sick to death of being bounced all over the place!  I would love to force the QA lead and CCM to swich every 10 minutes as well... Now in the south, switch, now in the north, switch, now in the west... Yeah, just try and keep track of all of these accounts.  THIS IS FLIPPIN CRAZY having to check the client profile with every darn job! Recently I was told the account I've been on for the past decade is going to voice recognition.  Having worked on a VR platform briefly, I know I don't want to get screwed making half the money with longer hours. I'm going to be sending out brochures to doctors' offices in my area.  I'm wondering which specialties would be the best ones to target - i.e., more likely to outsource their transcription to an individual transcriptionist, least likely to have EMR or EPIC. It was bad enough that we lost 1 of the accounts that I have had for 13 years last week, but today, without notifying me, I was put on new accounts.....the accounts where they are firing people left and right because of not passing audits.  My line count went down at least 30 lines per hour, mainly for having to look up physicians to cc, and consulting physicians, ect.  I am very stressed, and I just had to vent.  My nerves are frazzled. ...
