Testing up for tiers - anony

I am already a tier 3 so that won't work for me and do not want to be an SHDA. There is no money in that just a headache.

Must have lost a lot of people. It seems to me quite strange.

What is SHDA? I hate these acronyms - nm

Do you have to do MME as well. I wish I wasn't an MT3, would rather be a 1 typing ER reports, but too late for that now. I could definitely use a pay raise though

SHDA = MME = QA/MT hybrid. The same position that they keep renaming. When I became an MME 3 years ago there was a 5% base pay raise, so now I make 8 cpl base rate. However, my paycheck stayed the same and may be a little lower. You do everything that a tier 3 MT/ME does, but added to your queue are QA jobs mixed in with the rest. A full 100% review is 4 cpl and filling in blanks is 3 cpl. It may sound wonderful getting paid for something you didn't type, but it isn't. You get the worst of the worst and can sometimes waste a lot of time filling them in and leaving feedback markers (which are still buggy in Fluency). You don't get credit for anything you filled in, just what the original MT typed. I've gotten whole reports blanked out, so got almost no pay for it. You will also have to deal with the hate generated by correcting people's work, even though being "nice" will get you reprimanded by your PC or the auditing team if caught. The role of an SHDA is essentially to let coworkers know what errors will fail them on an audit before they are audited. It's only feedback and doesn't count against them, yet they still will hate you for it. There are some bad apples that nitpick the small stuff who make things worse. Personally, for every change I make, I quote the rule, where I found it, and even the page number if it is in the TSG. If I can't prove that I'm right, I don't make the change. Stay neutral in your feedback. Trying to be funny or encouraging will ultimately sound like you're belittling your coworker. Nobody likes to be corrected and there is a negative emotion tied to it. Any feedback you leave will be viewed through that negative emotion.

on ASR and straight typing than many lower-level MTs, and of course there's a freeze on any raises. Pretty aggravating, especially since I mostly do ASR all day long.

No matter how a person words something on this board, you can always count on someone blasting back. Just goes ro prove one man's thoughts/perceptions can be miscontrued or viewed differently than that of another. Guess it's a good thing we don't all have the same thougts and ideas. It makes life more interesting.

The company I am with requires 175 lph minimum, then if you do 275 lph you get 1/4 cent extra and then at 325 you get another 1/4. This is all straight typing. Maybe I'm just in one of my dissatisfied moods, but it doesn't seem like much extra -- at their top tier you'd only make 1/2 cent more per line. Maybe I have it great and just don't realize it. ...

It is truly laughable that MQ expects US MTs to jump through hoops, passing their tests, audits, trying to decipher absolute garbage and paying us like we were 6 month trainees, etc., and then have the audacity to send work to India. I hope MQ gets its due for all the grief they have caused and their role in the demise of this industry! If Verizon were to put them out of business, that would definitely be what they deserve. ...

How are you supposed to know whether to put the headings and text on the same line or put the text on the line under the heading, put a colon after heading or not put a colon? They said they go by BOS, but all I see pertaining to that in the BOS is the sample reports where they put the text under the heading with no colons after the heading. This surgeon dictates the same over and over in multiple reports, and I cannot understand what type of testing this is. "s/l Manuar test reveals 5/5 strength in forward elevation, external rotation, internal rotation, and abduction." It is getting very hard to even find the energy to test anymore. I have tested till I am blue in the face and dont understand why it is so hard to get a job in this profession. I graduated top of my class with a 3.98 and you would think I would have had a job by now. I tested for a company who stated that my skills were not up to their requirements, which I find very difficult to believe, as I have been in this business for 10 years, nonetheless, I am beginning to wonder if some of these companies are not scamming us. Just found out my employer is requiring all employees to take the HITECH test. This is from the law that was passed last year. We were told it would take about 5 hours to complete.
