New Technology - dumbdumb

Posted: Apr 13, 2010

Supervisor is harping to get our "availability" filled out on Schedule Source as we get ready to start the swamp board.  Maybe it will clear up after coffee, but just looking at it, I don't even get how to fill it out -- all the off and on and some kind of numbers.  I am tired of new and improved, I guess.

Availaility - dumbdumb

Does availability include our scheduled hours or hours we are available apart from those we are already working? I can't find any instructions.

this might not help, but . . . - voice

all our CCM told us was to verify the hours we are scheduled to work and it was filled out for us. There was a discrepancy in mine and shot CCM an email and it was fixed the next day. So, ours was done for us.

That would be nice - dumbdumb

So maybe we don't have to commit to extra hours set in stone that we would be "available?" Lord knows, I don't even want to work the 40 I am already down for! Time and a half on my current wages isn't worth it.
i did not . . - voice

give them any extra hours (I am PT). my schedule shows the hours I am scheduled and that is it. of course, like always, things are subject to change, but right now, the board reflects my schedule as it was the day i was hired. hope this helps.
So on availability just put your regular schedule? - dumbdumb

Or leave it blank if you don't want any EXTRA availability? Sorry, I am so brain dead these days.
I was told that... - scar tissue

If you have more hours listed than you exact schedule, that if there is a backlog, someone can automatically assign you those hours and you are responsible, Like it or Not.

I will never add more than my schedule as it should be my choice to work, not assigned to do it.
yes, that is what i was pretty . . - voice

told. i did not put my availability because of the exact reason scar tissue said. my time is MY time and if i choose to work extra, i will, but if i cannot or do not want, i am not committed to those extra hours. hope this helps.
how do you enter your availability - if .... SM

your schedule is different every other week?

I work every other weekend, and then on the weeks I work Saturday, I have off on Tuesday, on the weeks on work Sunday, I have off Thursday. It is very confusing but I don't want to put avaialbility for Thursday and then on my day off have them force me to work.

There is no explanation for this. Right now my availability is ZERO for each day and I am worried that somehow they will not give me work because of no availability.
according to schedule source . . . - voice

under the availability section my days off marked as "OFF" and as i understand it that is what CCM goes by for work purposes, coverage, extra help, etc. I am trying to confirm that with CCM as we speak. hope this helps.
ranking shifts - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't think you will be able to put in 2 different schedules in the availability. The only thing I can think of is to adjust the ranking of TTSS as these 4 days change. I'd rank a 9 on the hours/days MWF you work. Then, I'd rank a 1 on the hours/days TTSS rotating each month. That way if there ends up being assigned work besides regular schedule, those 4 days will be the last looked at for it.

Make sure you input the hours in Eastern time.

Eastern time - dumbdumb

[ In Reply To ..]
Is a pain also. Last week worked 4 hours, took 4 hours of PTO on same day. My schedule is in Central, apparently supervisor entered PTO in Eastern and now 1 hour "overlaps" and has thrown the Schedule Source into a time warp and it has marked the 4 hours I worked as an error. Hopefully it will be straightened out before the 15th. I dang sure am not working 4 hours for FREEEEEEEE (although I come close a lot of days if you look at my check now).

teamwork error - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Make sure you denote the error in Schedule Source and check to send message to CCM. That way even it not changed before end of PP, the error is logged there. Also, don't approve your time card until it's fixed.

I'm in Pacific zone and the 3-hour time difference can really mess things up when you're trying to figure out hours. I will be thinking my time zone and CCM the Eastern zone.

What I don't get is the Teamwork schedule is in my time zone, the time card is in my time zone, BUT the availability section is in Eastern. Why? Why? Why? I think they're just trying to mess with our fragile brains!

They don't have to go far to mess with my - brain anymore --

Wouldn't it make more sense if, with our improved digital and fiberoptic technology, the reports sounded BETTER instead of worse?  I guess it is more about convenience -- they can dictate in the bathroom, on the soccer field, in the locker room, checking out at the grocery store, or riding a motorcycle. . . ...

So, I Started Thinking About How They Want To Use The Technology
Aug 31, 2012

The people who programmed, designed, whatever, Editscript have added nice little features, like the red box, and the speeding up dictation feature when the dictator says nothing.  So, I started thinking about the red box and other features.  I decided I would not check the box that slows down the silent parts of the dictation.  Well, guess what? It sped me up editing-wise like crazy and I can hear when the dictation blips and, if need be, I can rewind for a couple of seconds and c ...

New Technology Came And I Lost My Work
May 27, 2015

After 17 years of working for a local clinic and building relationships and making their work my top priority, the most recent 'upgrade' to their system left me without work or income. They never even contacted me. One day I logged on like normal and didn't find any work on the work list. I waited a couple of hours and checked again - nothing. I contacted the IT guy who just matter-of-factly told me that their newest upgrade over the previous weekend made it impossible for me to r ...

Hi folks -  Well, astonishingly enough, I just got hired as a brand new MT at a private facility, with a pretty good salary & full benefits.  I was just certified last year, and all I had was a strong letter of recommendation from the Director of Medical Assisting at the JC I attended, my externship experience (online with ZyloMed) and the 4.0 GPA on my transcript.  No paid work experience.  You could've knocked me over with a feather!  I really can't belie ...
