HR confirmed the insurance thing... - newbiegalMT

Posted: Oct 20, 2010

Ok, the benefits company had told me that as an MT I do not qualify for Choice Plus, I am only eligible for the HRA plan which is quite ***** if you ask me because the website has both plans listed side by side and compared to each other and says NOTHING about how only people in corporate are eligible for the Choice Plus plan.  I have worked for MQ for about 4 months and they haven't even gotten me the information for the crap plan yet so I can't even use it.  I feel like I was tricked into taking this job with false promises of decent insurance.

The other gals hired with me haven't met their line rates so they haven't had this issue since they're not getting benefits at all but they are going to be upset when they do...

I just don't get it, I mean some older MTs have flat out told me that they have Choice Plus.  This is terrible.

INSURANCE - Nature

When I was full time, I had the choice plus. I have worked for MQ for over 10 years. I lost all my benefits when I went part time and semi retired. I have no insurance now at age 62. I was taking 6 medications and now take none, but not having so much stress with my job makes a lot of difference.

I was under the impression that there WAS a choice...... - Kiki1

I thought I'd hurry and answer your post because it most likely will get removed from the board soon.

I chose HRA because the premiums were lower, less taken out of check, but, of course, less coverage. However, I did go to the doctor yesterday for the first time after this insurance kicked in and didn't even have to pay a copayment. Apparently it comes out of the 500 that MQ puts in your account. Not much, yes, so HRA in my opinion is really only for pretty healthy, younger people. If you go to the doctor often Choice Plus is a better option, and I could have SWORN I had that option. You might want to dig deeper into this.

And YOU might want to dig deeper into this, too. - nm

trying to be funny or something?

As you can see from the other posters, they DID have a choice.......
OP DIDNT have choice. You were UNDER IMPRESSION there was a - choice. Not sure? Need to dig deeper. nm

I have Choice Plus this year. - I was given a choice

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm still a pup (20s) and was able to choose Choice Plus without any issues this year. I even just went to the myUHC website to confirm and I do have it. I've only been working here a few years. I had HRA last year, but switched because I needed more coverage for my son.

Of course, if you just started... - I was given a choice

[ In Reply To ..]
and weren't given a choice, I'm wondering if come next open enrollment, nobody will have the choice anymore, or something more nefarious is planned.

That's What I Think - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
That's what I said when this first came about. Maybe they're not offering it to newbies, and when new enrollment comes around, they won't have it at all. Everybody looked at me like I was from Mars at the time--not that I could see anyone...but I could feel it. ;)

I'm waiting on a call back, gonna get an explanation... - newbiegalmt

Honestly after looking at it the HRA is not too bad considering, but I have chronic health issues and would rather have the Choice Plus. I am going to find out why, though. I will be honest and say that I'm not thinking I will stay with MQ beyond one more year anyway so that I'll have my "2 years' experience" that everyone else wants. It's a shame, if they'd offer me the better insurance and a raise I'd stay for good, but they don't seem to mind the high rate of turnover. Oh, well!

Thanks everyone,
Rachel

It's Been 'confirmed' Where 'my' Work Is Going.
Jul 20, 2012

More work from the account being sent to our global centers (AKA India) according to report by a manager. Relatively new account. Started off as straight typing. Within the last week and a half or so went to ASR. Now to the other side of the globe. Ah yes - we created a good impression for the new account and now that their guard may be down and after we trained ASR, off to the ILPs. My only hope is that the doctors who apparently read their reports before continue to read their rep ...

Has Anyone Ever Confirmed That We Get Paid Straight Type For F11
Feb 15, 2011

By that, I mean, can you actually tell on your pay check? I've tried to in the past but have never been able to confirm it. I am seriously so ready at this point to F11 for my entire evening shift (if I thought I would get paid for straight typing). Might as well, that's what I'm doing anyway! ASR has been very naughty in the past couple of days (worse than usual) and in my earlier shift, honestly not more than one word usable in an entire sentence. It is griping me to no end to g ...

One More Thing!
Mar 11, 2010

Just one more thought.  I have never, ever, known anyone who has left Medquist or Spheris and regretted it.  They may bounce back and forth just to get by, but in the long run, when they are finally finished, they are finished.  For all of those MTs who don't want to start over, please don't take that attitude.  I did and it only got worse and when I did change it wasn't that bad at all.  Again, could it get any worse?  ...

I Did The Right Thing It Seems
May 02, 2010

Now I know I did the right thing in not only leaving the Q but leaving the field altogether.  I had another physical last week and my blood pressure was back down to 120/70, and my doctor was very happy when he learned I had quit. One More Thing Before I Go
Nov 23, 2013

I do believe now that they are starting to target those of us who were making 10/6.  In the past, on my old accounts, I was audited no more than once a month.  If I failed an occasional audit, they would wait another month to see how I did on that one and since I always passed, no action was taken.  There was also no action after I took more than the allowable time off.  Then, at the beginning of November, I was moved to another BOB.  After being on the account for less ...

Apr 01, 2015

Just had a doctor dictate "potassium 40 mg," (should have been mEq) and then further down, "Levemir 40 mg" (should have been units). that I have had in a dictation, and I am sure that the dictator (PA-C)  is annoyed as well.  It's always annoying when she chitty-chats with the "girls in the office" while dictating, but in this dictation, one of the girls is mocking back everything the dictator says and continues to do so, after a little chuckle from dictator each time, to the point where the dictator finally has to tell her that this is important, it is for an attorney and she cannot mess it up.  ...
