I think MQ, Spheris, Transcend care more about that you are working your shift than any errors. I was so so tired (cause I"m moving) yesterday, I couldnt keep my eyes open and had to take an hour break to sleep. When I came back to work, they dug up all kinds of stupid errors I did just to show me who the boss is. They all do it. It keeps you in line.

They can only dig up errors you made. Yes, they care more about - shifts, this is business. NM

And people wonder why we don't get the respect we deserve. IT'S BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE THE OP.

Well, maybe if they gave us PTO and let us actually USE it, rather than making us use it up - for NJA.....

We might not complain as much. I remember the days when I was able to save my PTO up for actually a vacation, or maybe just to have a few hours when I need it. But not anymore, because I have to use it to make up my pay at times when there's no work. At least if you work at Walmart or somewhere, you know that if you go to work there WILL be work there, and you can work your shift and GET PAID FOR IT.

And that is what is great about USA. Nobody holding a gun - to your head to stay as MT. You CAN go SM

You need to FILE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT when there is NJA. You save your PTO for when you need it, plain and simple. If they tell you that is what it is for, then you tell the supervisor, when work is slow, that she should have to use PTO as well because if we are not working, they are not. They want you to use it up when there is no work so that they have you working every other day.

I have no clue why people do this.

Well may if they gave us PT - Why are you not working for Walmart then?

You don't seem to be getting the point. It isn't the shift they are concerned with, but the fact that your work was unsatisfactory. Why was it unsatisfactory? Because you were too tired to stay awake.

You have your priorities wrong. You are letting your personal activities take precedence over your job. While moving might have been important, your job needs to be first.

You are also thinking that your errors weren't serious. If your employer felt a need to point them out, you should consider it a wake-up call.

They aren't trying to show you who is boss. Far from it. They are trying to show you that their client thinks your work is unsatisfactory and that they may have to fire you.

If you are so unprofessional that you think it is fine to be "only human," you need a job that is not in healthcare.

It would seem to me that that attitude would have a lot to do with that.

I think it comes into play when facilities decide to outsource, when MTSOs decide to offshore, and when doctors decide to go to VR and point'n'click.

It also has a lot to do with inability to complete training programs in things like coding and with difficulty getting hired in a new field if you do.

Mostl of us think that everyone has a good work ethic and sense of professionalism, but the truth is that some are closer to day laborers than to medical professionals.

I also was surprised that this MT wanted to take a nap. So many of us are fighting tooth and nail to get steady work, never miss a day, never late, and then you read something like this. Cannot believe MT was so surprised a full day was expected.

Can you seriously imagine sitting in an office and getting up to go take a nap in the middle of your shift? THIS IS A JOB. Not a hobby. Not a volunteer position. YOU are supposed to work your shift, not sleep through it. In some arenas, that would be grounds for immediate dismissal. Time to look in the mirror and point that finger back at yourself.

Totally unhappy with current company, but do love my shift. Most jobs advertised are for 2nd and 3rd shift. Anyone know of companies that would hire for very early morning or possible split shifts? I have been working third shift for about three months and am still having some trouble getting used to it. My question is do you work your shift then go to sleep or do you stay up until later in the afternoon and then sleep until your shift starts. many of us will be reassigned to 2nd or 3rd shift. If you are assigned and do not comply, you will be considered as having resigned.
