Nothing to do with MT, but where would you report - sm

a business that has wrong practices I guess you would call.  They will not tell me anything about why my bill is so high this month and they are telling me things I think are lies.  Help please

Your local TV news - see msg

Most local news stations have a consumer help department. They take down your story and help you get what is due you. You will have to prove the best to your ability that there is a problem, and from there, they will do the investigating.

Good luck!

Thank you!! I had not thought of that, but I bet they will - sm

hate the negative publicity!

They change their tune quickly - When they are splashed on TV!

Absolutely. It is more effective than just giving them a bad review on the Internet. In fact, the simple threat of going to the local news may be enough for them to shape up. Be very clear in your mind that you can prove them wrong, though, as this could turn on you if you confront them directly.

Contact your state's Attorney General's office. - ETOHPRN

We hired a land surveyor a few years back, did the job, did it quick, and we paid him. When I asked for something simple, like a map showing the boundary lines, he demanded a ridiculous chunk of change...like more than the actual survey job itself. So, I called the Attorney General and it turns out the dude had a rap sheet a mile long and his surveying license was already suspended twice--how the heck would we know?! Had all the equipment and everything!

We never did get our map, and survey was basically invalid, and he could keep the money unless we wanted to take him to court--which we couldn't afford. They also yanked his license for good--but I'm sure he relocated and has probably shystered some more unsuspecting slobs :(

Good luck!

Last week on TV (I live in the Chicago area)an interview was done with a woman who had unbelievably high electric bills. She has all electric. She said her bill is usually anywhere from $200 to $400 a month, but she received a bill that was over $2,000. Those people that supply the electricity will promise you cheap rates and then it goes up unbelievably. It has something to do with a variable rate as opposed to a fixed rate.

I would not be surprised if that is what these - sm

Sounds like the insurance company is - to blame. See msg

When the dentist office called the insurance company and gave that code, sounds like they were verifying coverage for the dental work. In a case like that, the dental office did their part (if I am understanding this correctly).

At our office whenever we schedule procedures, we provide our patients with insurance verification forms explaining the insurance & billing process so they know to call and check with their insurance and get an idea of out of pocket costs etc. We also call insurance to get pre-detetminations/ prior authorizations and verify benefits in addition to providing patients with insurance verification forms.

ABOVE INSURANCE POST posted to wrong thread - PLEASE DISREGARD
