Right now I work doing transcription but have never had to type a certain number of lines per day. We just have to have our work done in a timely manner.....24-48 hours. I am looking at taking a job where they require 1000-1200 lines per day working FT hours and am curious how long that would take typically? I am not the fastest typist in the world and don't want to get in over my head. If I can't work overtime and need to get that many lines done, it concerns me. For those of you who currently have to have a minimum line count per day, what happens if you don't meet the line count? I hate to think of someone breathing down my back if I have trouble meeting the line count and don't know how well I'll hold up under that pressure.

work 8-10 hours to produce 1000-1100 lines. With new software, worse dictators, and work slowdowns in place, I'm lucky to clear 600 lines in 14 hours.

Where I work they require 125 lines per hour for straight typing and 250 lines per hour for VR. I definitely exceed those numbers in 8 hours, sometimes 6-7 hours. I don't want to say where I work on the board but it is very doable. At my previous job in a hospital they required minimal 1300 lines a day for straight typing. By the way, I have tons of ESL and no problem at all. I think most places give you a 90-day probation to get up to that point and will work with you if you are having trouble approaching that line count. Depending on how much experience you have you should do well. Good luck!

and platform, you should have no trouble getting 1000 to 1200 a day. That is only 125 lines an hour for 1000 lines in 8 hours. Most MTSOs for full-time have a line requirement to maintain FT status, where I work is it 1200 lines a day.

Anybody know if there is a "standard" for number of lines to be audited on? All of my audits have been for under 200 lines. I never pass. It seems to me that if you sample such a small number, you are more likely to have errors and thus fail an audit. Are each of us being held to different standards as far as lines audited? I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what OSI cuts out of their line counts? Seeing as they use a remote website for line counts, it is pretty obvious they cut corners with what MTs get paid on. I was just wondering WHAT are the cutting? Do they only pay 1 space? Do they not pay if you copy and paste? Do they only pay on a % per page - meaning if you have little on 1 page you aren't going to get any credit for those lines, etc? Just curio ...

I know this has been discussed before, but what is up with these line counts? I used to have no problem doing 200+ lph. Now, I work at the same pace on an account with less ESL speakers and I struggle to get my required 150 lph. According to the Escript, I'm doing an average of 300 lph on VR but usually at the end of 8 hours, I don't top 1100 liines most days. On Dictaphone's ExSpeech, i used to consistently do 1800-2400 a day on a combination. Hi - I have a question regarding counting templates. I have a new doc who wants me to only count what he dictates, and not the templated review of systems, past medical history, social history, etc. which is all unchanged (unless he says to change it). Do you cut and paste your work into a "count" file to get the total, or do you tell the doctor that it has to be included in the count. I am just curious as to what line count standards are out there. What are your line count requirements for the day and how much do you use your QA for things like missing encounters, unable to ID patients, incorrect work types?
