How do you all deal with rude QA? - sm

Every time I ask a question, if this one specific QA person sees my question, she emails a snippy response. How do you all handle rude QA?

take it without comment. Don't get why former MTs turn all nasty and know-it-all when they get too withered to type and go into QA.

"Too old and withered to type." Hmm totally uncalled for. I am a QA and yes, I guess I could be in the "withered and old" category; however, I have seen YOUNGER people who have QA'd reports of mine and they are TOTALLY off at times in the corrections that are done to the reports. For example, I had transcribed "The Four HORSEMEN of the Apocalypse." This was corrected to read, "The Four HORSES of the Apocalypse." This was done by a person who has less than FIVE years experience as an MT, and is now in a managerial/supervisory QA position.

I found it odd as well with this individual when they asked me to finish typing a report that had not been totally completed; however, it was starting to be QA'd by the same individual mentioned above. I was listening to the report to get to the point where I needed to start typing, and in two paragraphs, I found FOUR mistakes that this QA/supervisor/managerial person had made, and I informed this person of such via IM.

Actually, I am finding quite the opposite. It is the MTs who do NOT have a lot of experience under their belts, who "lucked into" a QA position and really don't know what the heck they are doing to be the ones that are "rude and snippy.

The particular QA/manager and her sidekick also took it upon themselves to provide PARAGRAPHS of feedback -- not only to myself, but to other MTs.

Sadly, I have found out that since this person became a "manager" earlier this year, that half of the MTs that this company had have left because this person feels that the best way to get MTs to work, is by bullying them. That is not the mark of a good QA person or a good manager IMO.

MTs have to realize there are certain guidelines that need to be followed and that there are good QA people just as there are bad QA people. I try to be constructive when giving feedback where the MT has a chance to learn and grow.

I understand your statement, though. Yes not all QA has the same attitude. I just "lucked" onto this one. I think you are right on that she is very new. I see some reports she QAd and I literally cringe and say oh no!! Scares my kids sometimes. lol

I completely agree. I have had experience (more than I've wanted) with younger QA personnel who lucked into their positions and they are rude and completely inconsistent. The older, more experienced QA I've dealt with have always been helpful and understanding.

I just let it go. After all, it is the QA person who has an attitude problem, not you. It's easier said than done, but try to deal with it with as much maturity and grace as you can muster. Hopefully, not all your QA people are like this and you can get some helpful feedback from the others.

I have been seeing my PA every three months right after my cardiologist for congestive heart failure. He prescribes my meds and communicates with my cardiologist during my checkup. Okay, guess I will show how dumb I am. I am an MT in a in-house office for a urologist. he dictates, I listen and transcribe. i get on here and read everyone fussing about VR. I get that VR is voice recognition...but what is your job? If you are an MT, you have VR, I realize it gets it wrong sometimes but what do you do? A couple of days ago I took my mom to the ER because of sudden back pain. We live in a town of ~20,000 and have a 100-bed hospital with a fully staffed ER. We were the ONLY ones in the waiting room. Urinalysis has been obtained today suggesting 50 to 100 WBCs, RBCs, many bacteria, with a WBC of 6.9, hemoglobin 14.3, positive nitrites and moderate leukoesterase in his urine.
