being let go - anna rose

This happened to me as well.....7 years with them. I'm 65. I've been involved in this industry for over 30 years as a coder (years and years ago when certification wasn't required to get a job in coding), medical records technician, medical transcriptionist, trainer, mentor, and manager of a large medical transcription department for 13 years. The last year with Webmedx, I saw my production drop and drop and drop, without any change in what it was that I was doing. I felt like I was going nuts when I couldn't figure it out. I was "let go." I was totally blindsided and very much devastated and, like you, wondered what the heck I was supposed to do now. After taking a bit of a breather and living off my 401K earnings and other savings for a few months, I jumped back into job hunting. You know what I found out from another MTSO? Webmedx, with whom I always received outstanding QA marks and was always told what a valuable member of their "team" I was, has me on their INELIGIBLE FOR REHIRE list. Idiots! That really hurt I tell you. But you know what? I'm over it now and looking forward to a new job that pays hourly, allows me to use all that other experience I have had, and which doesn't make me feel like I am being thrown away. There is life after Webmedx. Pat yourself on the back for hvaing spent 16 years with them....that's pretty remarkable given today's climate in our field. You are valuable! Don't let your age hold you back. It's nobody's business how old you are and doesn't mean a hill of beans as far as your skill set, knowledge and contribution to another employer. Stay positive and take care of yourself. Good luck!

thanks so much for your answer. they just told me I have two weeks to bring my lines up to 1300 a day or be let go. not happening. and I do not have a clue why count has dropped steadily for about a year. my QA on review is between 98.8 and 99.5. one thing that was odd was that she said no one else had a problem with lines inexplicably dropping. that is a lie... I am going to go for file clerk and clerical here in the casinos (I live in Vegas). pay for that is almost twice what I am getting now. thanks so much again for your message. I did have a clue this was coming, but still hit me hard.

trying really hard.  Produce above requirements on other PT job so don't know what the problem is.   I have only been here 5 months where I am but I have 22 years of experience so it's not inexperience that is the problem.

What was the reason you were given for being let go? That's horrible. I'd give anything for an hourly paying job but after 36 years of this where can you find one? With the 40% loss in pay with voice recognition, I have to survive doing SOMETHING. Any suggestions anyone?

reason just not fast enough, with over 30% increase in minimum on May 1 and apparently inexplicable slowing over the past year. right now walmart is looking good. am so sick of the stress.

Do what you show as your line counts on reports match up with whatever they show for payroll? What the hell you are supposed to do is document it and proceed forth with courage. Line counts all over the place don't make since, which makes it easy to screw and get screwed when it comes to pay. At what point will we all realize it, document it and do something about it with courage?

Well, I'm older than you, and haven't had a problem with line counts dropping. Have you been having trouble with all the formatting changes, etc, and editing vs transcription? On a new/different account? Internet connection slowed down?

Not asking to be snotty, just trying to figure out if there's something going on you may not be aware of.

I would think that if line counts were getting whacky across the board, we would be hearing from more WBX employees.

there are several employees and former employees on another thread that have had and are having the identical problem with lines inexplicably dropping over several months. on May 1st, they raised the minimum lines per week from 5000 to 6500 and i thought that was an issue. no discussion, no advance notice, no explanation, just BOOM... bloody big increase to catch up on.

I don't remember seeing those threads, I'll go back and look - on this board or the company board?

I do remember the minimum line raise, and wondered if I'd be able to do it. But - honestly - I have. I'm just part time, 20 hours a week, and I've been doing on average 5000 lines a week (PT requirement is 3250) for the last couple of months. I think something in the editing part of my brain just clicked in.

That's why I wondered if you were having problems w/editing, etc. Are you getting enough work?

I posted on the other thread but I will repeat some of what a number of us discovered regarding line counts. There are about 10 of us that I have been in communication with, and I just know some people on my accounts, so I would guess there are more, and we felt our line counts were inexplicably low starting 8 months or so ago (before Nuance/before pay cut). We all pooled our thoughts together and tried to document but were unable to. I did have jobs that had negative lines. This was supposedly a glitch, and they correct it if you document it. Just takes a few NEGATIVE line counts though, if you don't catch it, to really tank your count! I think there were other changes also, but we couldn't prove it.

Anyway, I have been at another company for just a bit over a month now, and I am already exceeding my LPH even though I am still learning their platform/my account, so to me this shows something WAS screwy in my opinion.

RE: negative line counts - veryoldmt

I asked my STM about the negative line counts when they started showing up ( a long time ago), and she said it happens when you put a job in temp and then go back and finish it. If you look at your job numbers, you should see the same job number listed twice, once with a negative count and then once with the correct count.
negative line counts - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
You do indeed get negative line counts in that case, but you will also see a positive count with that same job #. That is NOT what happened to me, I had 4 jobs over 2 months that were ONLY negative, no positive. Two cases they had no idea why, 1 was because another MT started editing it but then for some reason it came to me. She got all the lines, I got negative. Yet another case was another MT who opened the file, made zero edits, then left the report. She got 100% pay and I had only negatives. So, there are different reasons, 2 unexplained, but it does happen and you do need to watch it.

There is a post way below with several WMX MTs cannot meet - line count. I am having hard time also. nn/sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I am having a hard time meeting line count, and this is just recently, since Nuance took over. I keep thinking that they fiddled with the line counter. Someone below even posted about having negative line counts.

Line counts with Nuance - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
In my personal experience, there is nothing wrong with Nuance line counter. I have my issues with Nuance, but wonky line counting isn't one of them.

If you are on the right account at Nuance you can get seriously high line counts in an 8 hour shift.
WMX system still - Webber
[ In Reply To ..]
Nothing at WMX has been switched over to Nuance platforms or software that I know of so far. We are still on the Webmedx platform with their line counter, and there have been some problems with line counts in the past. There were negative line counts showing up for some jobs right after the switch to M-Modal. I haven't paid as much attention lately, but my counts have been steadily dropping. I thought it was more from just being burnt out and not caring anymore after dealing with all of the pay cuts and changes.

Hard To Meet 6500 Lpw Line Count At Webmedx Now. What Gives?

Ever since we been taken over by Nuance, and I've had to type my main account on the native platform, I can't seem to pick up line counts no matter how fast or how hard I try. It's very frustrating.  They raised the line count to 6500 lines per week from when I first started 2 years ago of 5000.  I used to be able to type a lot more.  Been an MT for more than 10 years now.  I feel something weird going on. ...

VR Line Count - What Kind Of Line Production Should I Shoot For
Mar 24, 2011

I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? I have read that most who are working full time or 8 hours a day are doing more than 1,000, even 2,000 a day. The company I will be working for wants a minimum of 10,000 lines in a payperiod which the lady said even with part time ...

Character Count/line Count
Feb 23, 2011

If this is not correct then what is the formula? And what is the average number of lines per day? Thanks so much for the info. ...

Webmedx SR Line Counts Discrepancy
Oct 14, 2010

I apologize to sound like an Webmedx complainer. Not my intent, but I am extremely concerned regarding the SR jobs I'm transcribing and receiving correct compensation. The way I understand it, an SR/VR draft report already has a tallied line count when it goes to an MT and if during the course of your edit, you delete lines, the line count always reflects this by being less, it does not stay at the original SR drafted line count. Makes sense, and I have no issues with th ...
