Why in the WORLD is Synernet HIRING again??? - Goodgrief!

Posted: Jan 28, 2014

I am just now getting to where I am not running out of work everytime I turn around.  What in the world are they hiring again for??? Can't believe it!

I think it is SOP for them. During one of the phone calls, sm - SMT

[ In Reply To ..]
V talked about meeting their hiring quota. Maybe they used to care about the MT, but now they care only about their own bottom line. Short TATs, overstaffing ... welcome to the world of MT.

What does SOP - mean

Standard operating procedure - nm

Things seem different - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
They have been kind of nasty lately. No joke.

Hmm... I don't look at it like that. It seemed more like a good thing - to me

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm not privy to how many MTs quit, how many new accounts they have, how work may have picked up or is expected to pick up, etc. So I don't judge. I look at it as a good thing, especially in light of OT on for the week.

For them to be confident enough to be hiring again, I'll take it as a glass half full! :-)

I agree totally. Why does it always have to be that - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
MTs quit or whatever. Can it not be that they have new clients? Sigh.

And with the hiring and the OT, it means I will run sm - Not happy either

[ In Reply To ..]
out of work on the weekend, just like it was before. Thanks Synernet.

Because everyone is leaving - Sick and tired

[ In Reply To ..]
I know of several of my coworkers who have left Synernet recently and I will probably be next. They used to be a great company to work for, but it just hasn't been the same over the last 6 months or so. They can't make it anymore obvious that they don't care about the MTs whatsoever. The manager and director literally never answer emails and it's near impossible to get any communication from anyone there. I am having a very hard time achieving the line counts that I used to be able to get there because the accounts are so overstaffed and most of the reports that I get during my shift are the ones that nobody really likes. I almost never get the ER and op reports that I used to get. I am very close to quitting myself.

Two ads 2 days in a row -- they must really want us to starve. nm - Not happy

Have you ever thought... - Curious

[ In Reply To ..]
that perhaps Synernet is hiring because every 3 out of 5 posts on mtstars is an employee talking about how they are going to quit? You see that they put job postings on here, do you really think they dont see these posts? I would be inclined to think they are just readying themselves for when everyone who keeps threatening to leave finally does.

That would seem a silly way to do business, hiring people sm - Just me

[ In Reply To ..]
on the off chance that someone posting on a message board might quit, not knowing what account they work, what shift, and seeing if it actually happens. I may not understand all that they do, nor do I respect some of their policies, but I doubt that management is emptyheaded enough to respond to vague threats of quitting posted on a message board.
Actually, they are - Blah
[ In Reply To ..]
There was a conference call the other day and the posts on this board were brought up and they mentioned how lots of people have already left and more are expected to leave in the near future based on the postings on here, so they are reading most if not all of the posts on this forum and reacting to them. Believe me, management skills are largely lacking at that place.
If they read the posts then why don't they - MT
[ In Reply To ..]
fix things people are upset about instead of looking for others thereby stopping the turn over. People's concerns are not unjust or difficult to fix. Just treat the MT like a human being, don't play games with work pools or pay, and go back to the old way of doing business by supporting the labor which the company is held up by. Not such a hard business tactic or difficult advice to take. I hope someone brought that up at the call.
Sadly, they don't seem to care - Frustrated
[ In Reply To ..]
They read these posts all the time, but they have yet to do anything about the complaints that MTs have about them. The only thing they are doing is hiring to replace the large amount of MTs that have left recently. They don't care and/or are too lazy to put any effort towards improving things or making changes for the better. In my honest opinion, someone needs to "clean house" there, starting with the top management, and get some people in there who will do the job right and treat MTs with the respect they deserve. After all, without the MTs, they have no company. Upper management needs to realize that the MTs are their job security. I sure hope they get their act together real soon, or they could be in big trouble.
Actually... - The Manager
[ In Reply To ..]
We care very much about our MTs. With MTs we have no business and we ourselves have no jobs. It saddens me that we clearly have so many disgruntled employees. It would be unprofessional of me to address any of these issues in the public forum setting; however, I encourage anyone who has issues with Synernet or myself to give me or the Director a call so that we may discuss and work towards a possible resolution. It is hard to fix issues that are not brought to our attention. I do not base my work performance at Synernet on what is discussed on mtstars.

Thank you. Please enjoy the rest of your day.
Really? - Dallas
[ In Reply To ..]
"I do not base my work performance at Synernet on what is discussed on mtstars."

That right there is your biggest mistake, not to mention a very unprofessional comment to post on here. I'm sure that Synernet would not want to be represented in that way. You're basically saying that what MTs say on here is irrelevant and means nothing to you. There is absolutely no way that any MT will vent as directly and bluntly to management the way that they can freely and anonymously on this forum for fear of retaliation or some form of punishment. There are also people who HAVE tried to voice their concerns to management, only to have nothing done whatsoever to address their concerns or problems. I have worked for Synernet for several years and I personally have experienced this firsthand. Maybe if you actually took some of the things being said on here to heart and put an actual effort into trying to make some improvements and make Synernet a much better place to work, then maybe there wouldn't be so many disgruntled MTs and your employee retention would be much better. Maybe once in a while you should let your MTs know that you appreciate them and make them feel like they do matter and start treating them like human beings instead of robots. You'd be amazed at what a difference doing such simple things can make. Just my 2 cents. I probably just wasted several minutes of my life writing this as it will just fall on deaf ears like it always does, but it was worth a shot.
Seems to me if Synernet would try to make the good workers they have already.... - Disbelief
[ In Reply To ..]
Then, they wouldn't have to retrain and hire so much. Just makes more sense to retain the employees you have who know the account specs, are used to the doctors and can dole out those lines in a timely manner, than to have to waste time posting ads, interviewing, doing background checks, and wasting time with new employees. The employees are treated like children, having to call in if you will be away from your computer more than 5 minutes. If we are producing our line counts and some of us go above our quota daily, then there should be no question if we are "working." We shouldn't be assigned vacation weeks if we don't get them in by the December deadline, and we certainly should not have to find coverage if our "vacation" we didn't plan falls on a rotated weekend we have to work. I would think if we are to have our vacations chosen FOR us, then management would check to make sure that it doesn't fall on a weekend we are scheduled to work. I have never in my life been micromanaged so much as I have with this company. Yes, I am currently looking elsewhere.
5 minutes? - Synernet MT
[ In Reply To ..]
I have never heard of having to call in if you're going to be away from your desk for any length of time, especially 5 minutes. You clock out for lunch and that's it. Can you imagine the number of calls they would get? Where did you get that from?
II was told 15 minutes, but still.... - N/M
[ In Reply To ..]
I believe it's 15 minutes, but I am with the above poster. If we are making our line counts and above them, we shouldn't have to be chained to our computers like that, and an email notification should be sufficient if you need to take any more of a break than that. I could go on and on.
I think having the courtesy to answer e-mails would be a big step sm - Just a thought
[ In Reply To ..]
in showing actual concern and respect for the MTs. This is the first place I have ever worked where my supervisor would not answer me, or answer me 2 weeks later. I understand you are busy, but if you are so busy that you cannot address the concerns of the people in your department, perhaps you need an assistant. To be ignored makes one feel insignificant, as if his/her concerns do not matter, not even worth addressing.
No kidding! - Frustrated @ Synernet
[ In Reply To ..]
How about you actually answer your emails? Just like the above poster, this is also the first company I have worked for where my manager has either ignored my emails entirely or took at least several days to respond. That is totally unacceptable. Since we work remotely from home and are not in an actual office setting where we can come and see you in person, email is our primary means of communication and it's very frustrating when we need to reach you, but a lot of our emails go unanswered. Part of your job as the manager is making sure that you are there to answer questions and address concerns that are brought to you. That sure as heck doesn't seem to be happening and a lot of people are obviously getting very, very frustrated with it.
If your emails are about the account, a question on it, and are ignored - then dont work until you get an answer. SM
[ In Reply To ..]
I betcha that gets an answer pretty quick, if the work doesn't get done.

Mgr: Why aren't you working? The account is out of TAT.

MT: Why didn't you answer my emails with questions about the account? My emails are out of TAT. How do you expect me to do the work and do it right if there's a problem to be fixed?
Reply to don't work until you get an answer - MT

No offense but that's advice that will get someone fired in a New York minute. Unless we can pay bills without a job I would suggest this is not the best idea.

SYNERNET Not Hiring From Certain States

Morning all. Knew it was coming, just didn't know when.  CTL gone Monday and this a.m., a totally new CCM.  Haven't been told anything by anyone at MQ about any of this.  Just happened.  It's OK.  The last CCM was pretty bad, never answered E.mails or phone calls.  The CTL was great though and that is probably why she is gone.  MQ can't stand to have anyone good for morale and/or MTs work for them.  Look out everyone, its Christmas ...

It seems as if nearly everyone, everywhere has seen their work dry up in the extreme.  At Nuance and M*Modal, of course, they reckon it's because it's all going to India, and all things considered, they're undoubtedly right, at least in part. If American MTs Get QCd To Death, How In The World
