Strange.... - OldTimer

Posted: Jan 09, 2012

I just read the lengthy, rambling, repetitious, chatty message posted on the Job Seeker's Board by CLK Transcription.

It reminds me of the job posting on another site about a year ago that contained "LOL" in the job description.

Has professionalism completely died in America?  Evidently so.

Not so strange these days. - Reality Check

We are probably being interviewed by people who have never even done transcription in their life. They may know the numbers they are told to look for, but hands on - I doubt it.

I read it and really don't see a problem. Professionalism - can come in different styles. It is

[ In Reply To ..]
how it all plays out that reveals professionalism or lack of it, not conformity of job posting text.

And no, I don't think professionalism is dead at all. People were making the same complaints a half century ago, and no doubt through the ages before that, as times changed and exposures to different ways widened, but there's a whole lot more to professionalism than the window dressing. Including such things as judgment and probity.

than to work for the ridiculous pittance she is offering. And she refuses to argue about the low rate, because she doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Every once in a while somebody posts here asking about that "job" and I go out of my way to warn them. I feel really bad about the ones that mistakenly think it's "better than nothing" because it really isn't. Does McDonald pay new people 50 cents an hour because they don't have experience? Would anyone agree to work for that? Newbie shouldn't equal sucker, but that's the way the unscrupulous employers treat them.

She wants someone with attention to detail yet has all sorts of mistakes in her ramblings. Glad she has lots of cients (sic) to keep her busy!

I am your twin poster about CLK and their slave wages - - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I am the other poster who always tries to warn people of how insulting her wages are. She/CLK isn't allowed to post on the legal site I go to because it is WAAAAAAY under the beginning wage for that type of work - or any transcription. There's even a thread on that site about CLK, with posts from many, many people like you and I who are out to help protect both the newbie and our wages.

I know this site has a minimum wage offered to be able to post a help wanted ad, this should fall under those rules. CLK needs to stop with the salesmanship and justification when it is pure and simple untruths!

Yes, I think professionalism (and etiquette) have died and deserve a decent burial. I went a new doctor the other day and out comes this 20-something (nothing wrong with 20-somethings, I have great-nieces that age. She had never seen me before, as it was my first visit. She was chonking on green chewing gum in a cow-like fashion. She then proceeded to yell my first name out. I am sorry, but I think that by the time a woman (or a man) has reached age 70, they deserve to be called by their proper last name, at least until the know the doctor and the staff, and then it is the patient's prerogative to say, "Please call me Ruth." I certainly do not call my physician "Bill."

I really dislike it when office staff call patients by their first name.
Lots of people like to say it's because of HIPAA, yet there is no breach of confidentiality by calling someone by their surname. This is not the intention of HIPAA.

It has a lot to due with lack of professionalism and taking the easy way out, since no one can read or pronounce anything anymore for any reason.

Unless things have changed since I worked - in office...

[ In Reply To ..]
It is a HIPAA violation. I was in-house when the rule went into effect which drove the office staff and the patients crazy. The staff member would have to enter the waiting room, and instead of saying "Mr. Jones," they would have to call out "Michael," and when 5 Michaels rose their hands or started to get up out of their seats, the protocol was then to start with "Michael J." and so on. Anywhere in the office where the public/other patients could possibly hear, the patients were not allowed to be addressed by their last name. Trust me... the staff in that office was the laziest group of people I ever encountered, so if it wasn't a rule that had to be followed, they would be the LAST bunch who would put the effort in. In another office where I worked, they would pull one of the MTs occasionally to call for appointment reminders, and the same rule applied. We were NOT allowed to state the patient's last name.

I was raised to address my elders properly (Mr. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Ms. Jones) until that person told me otherwise. I find it disrespectful not to do so. So, I'm NOT a fan of this rule. It seems especially silly now when everyone has a camera on their cell phone, and if they wanted to, they could film your most identifying piece of personal information (your face) and post it on YouTube. IMO, they should let the staff address patients properly and respectfully and start enforcing no cell phone rules more stringently.

Not that this is related to medical but you bring up a very good point of addressing elders properly. When I was in school, our teachers/aides/bus drivers, etc were addressed as Mr. or Mrs. and now my kids are like "Sara said..." and I ask who is "Sara" and find it's their teacher. I find this also very inappropriate, so it's not just the medical profession but society in general that has become ill mannered and disrespectful.

It is not nor has it ever been a HIPAA violation - Old Pro

This is a misunderstanding. I defy anyone to cite ANYWHERE in the HIPAA code otherwise.

I totally agree. It is just a lack of general manners - nothing to do with HIPAA - hysterical.

Does This Seem Strange?
Feb 26, 2010

I sent my resume to Iridium (I regret doing that) and they sent me a test to take through Word and some transcribing.  I noticed that the doctor clearly said a patient's name in one of the recordings!  I thought it was a fictitious name, but I then received an e-mail asking me to sign a confidentiality form due to the patient info in the dictations.  I think it's terrible that they didn't take this person's name out.  Something seems odd about this company ...

Strange Happening - Is It Just Me ?
Apr 09, 2010

Starting this morning, about 3/4 of my reports (which I HAD NOT sent to QA, i.e. did not  check the box), are returning to me with QA feedback.  What with FTR this could really go against my submission rate.  I rarely send to QA, maybe 1-2 a day at most.  Anyone else having this happen, a technical glitch, or am I losing it ?  TIA !   ...

Seems Strange That Everything In MQ Is So Slow.
Apr 13, 2010

Every site having to do with MQ is as slow as molasses.  Other Internet sites whiz along.  Trying to check MQ E-mail, clock in, etc. is always a draaaaaaaaggggg.  Is it their equipment or poor IT I wonder?  Either way, once again makes you wonder about their accuracy on any of our numbers.  Does their software "catch" everything or are some of my lines are flying past while it is dragging like a snail?   ...

IMedX - Everything Seems Strange
May 10, 2015

Everything seems strange at this company anymore.  Not a lot of emails from accountcare regarding updates on accounts, nor do you get an email from your supe regarding anything much at all.  Everyone is being so hush-hush, it seems.    Also, one of the QA's sent an email this morning saying today is her last day.  Wonder why??  The work on accounts is still very sporadic.  This past Friday, there was hardly any work at all, even after 8p, and most of the time Fri-Sun are the "feast" ...

On-Call Transcription - Strange

Did anybody else see the job ad from On-Call Transcription?  They want applicants to put the words "purple" and "couch" at the top of their responding emails - what's up with that??  If they are just trying to get people to read and follow instructions, that's a pretty unprofessional and demeaning way to accomplish it in my opinion.  ...
