NEMT info anyone - Just heard from them

Posted: Feb 11, 2015

Has anyone ever worked for or know anything about NEMT?  It seems as if they are always looking for MTs.  I just heard from them and was thinking of pursuing the opportunity.  I would sincerely appreciate any input, good or bad.  Thank you!

I saw their recent ad - sm

I'd never seen an ad before, though I haven't looked until recently. Did you test with them already?

Yes - waiting to hear back - ...

Don't always advertise. Pay is low...only IC. - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
They will not take from some states, and probably because of the higher minimum wage because then they will have to make up the difference. They have a good reputation for the most part though. I believe they honor the IC status and do not bug you if you choose not to type 24/7, so if you don't need to eat...its a good hobby jobby.

it's a small but good company - - NEMT

[ In Reply To ..]
I have been with them about 6 months. Easy company to work for. They do not bug the crap out of you. They pay every week ON TIME. They pay 7 cpl, they have QA bonuses. I do straight typing, NO ESLs to deal with. Pay not as much as N or MM but do not have to put up with the crap they dish out. So if you like your peace and quite and being left alone to do your work Good company to work for.

I am a bit curious - Do they pay different rates - instead of a flat rate

[ In Reply To ..]
I was offered a much higher rate than you quote in your post, which I obviously did not turn down. Hope it was not a typo! LOLOL
I do not know the answer to that but according - NEMT
[ In Reply To ..]
to a post below - acute care get paid more than clinic. I do clinic so I quoted my rate. So obviously they have different rates, I am not privy to

Your comments very odd, as they offered me - a VERY generous line rate

[ In Reply To ..]
and I took it. Significantly higher than anything I have seen anywhere.

You do not know what you are talking about, or maybe you were not good enough for them.

if you are referring to a posting on the other site- - NEMT

[ In Reply To ..]
it refers to support team member, an elite team that does many different accounts, can move from account to account and help when new accounts start and acute care. It mentions an incentive pay for TEAM members. I am not a team member, so therefore I do not get the higher pay. Good luck to you

They only advertise when they have openings. I currently am working for them on an acute care account. Pay is I believe above average for what is being offered nowadays. Your first check is "held" for 2 weeks, but then you are paid weekly. QA staff and the staff in general, is extremely helpful and friendly. You are IC; however, you have a schedule and are expected to work that schedule.

NEMT - looking

[ In Reply To ..]
as far as schedules, is that their schedule or one you set? As an IC with a business license you should be setting your own schedule and be kept to that. I am looking and just wondering as far as applying, I can't work weekends due to previous obligations. Any info would help. Company sounds good so far.

NEMT and schedules - nn

[ In Reply To ..]
Well, when I was hired by them, I was asked to work a certain schedule, which generally includes 1 weekend day, so technically no, you cannot set your own schedule. Also, I was not required to have a "business license." I "printed out a business card," which I sent with my paperwork when I got hired and that sufficed.

Thanks for the information...I don't think we would be a good fit then.
I set my own schedule- - NEMT
[ In Reply To ..]
when I applied I was looking for a 4 day week and I do not work weekends, I am on a clinic account and that may make a difference since clinics are normally closed on the weekend. If I were you I would ask before ruling out, it doesn't hurt to ask

Thank you - I appreciate your input!

This was a very helpful post.

They require business licenses for their IC's - Inquiring

[ In Reply To ..]
I would have to get both a county and city license. I'm not going through that hassle.

I didn't have to have a license -sm - NEMT

[ In Reply To ..]
they did request an EIN which was my SS# and a business card. They may have changed policy since last September though, but I am not aware of that

NEMT is a nice company, agree with other posts. - SM

I am currently employed there. Everything previously posted is correct,it's a nice company. No company is perfect, but this is nice for me.

I dont think they advertise "all the time" but only when needed. I got on a few months ago. Ask for what account they are hiring and what schedule they need covered. I was given a choice of 2 or 3 schedules to choose from. You dont pick & choose your own days & hours as far as I know.

Business license: Your own business card is fine is what I was told by HR and you dont need a "license" so I have no idea what that's about. She said a card was fine, so make one up; name, phone number, maybe address, maybe make up a small name (Jane Doe Transcription Co) and that should suffice. Dont go get a bunch printed, go to an office website and draw up a rough draft, save it and use that.

Did someone mention business insurance? Same thing, you dont need it. I have no idea why that would be asked for. I think I remember that was for any kind of work-related injury, that you have insurance of your own. That doesnt mean squat. Simply tell them you have it.

I get 8 cents on my acute care account and they do QA bonuses, though I'm not up on those details right now.

Yes, you're left alone in peace. Not constant begging for help emails, no threats, etc. Ask what line count requirement is for full and part-time people so you know. They want a commitment so they can promise how much work the client can get back in a day and keep TAT.

Editors and my manager are nice. You have an instant message system they want you to use while working. Easy, not complicated.

Pay is on time and direct deposit every week on Monday. You send in an invoice in Excel format, the program figures your wages when you put in your line totals. Email it in to the accounting dept and you're good to go. Nothing complicated.

As with any MTSO, check carefully what computer requirements they want so you dont get screwed over like I did with somebody else.

I am the OP - Thanks for the answers

[ In Reply To ..]
I read each and every one, and truly appreciate the time you took to respond. It especially helps that the ones working for them currently have good things to say. Thanks again and have a great week!

Good luck to you in whatever you decide - - NEMT- nm

I do straight typing for clinic work - NEMT

[ In Reply To ..]
get 7 cpl. I believe an early post from someone who did acute care was 8. So they must have different pay for different areas. I was not aware of that. The job on the other site obviously pays more but reads to be a special team of MTs

Schedule - Hopeful

[ In Reply To ..]
Please forgive me if this is a silly question, but I have never worked for one of these big companies before. I know with NEMT you have a minimum line count. You also work a "shift" that you agreed to. If you have completed your lines for the day, or more if you so desire, what is your obligation to do for the company for the rest of the shift? Continue typing the entire time? Sit there and watch for STAT reports? Thanks so much!

I would love to hear from some Support Team - members.

What is it like? Are the accounts a pain or is it worth the trouble? Could you provide us with a little insight into what it's like?

NEMT, Seriously?
Aug 04, 2010

Has anyone taken the IC pre-hiring test for NEMT?  It's four dictations and a fill-in-the-blank.  Like lots of other MTs, I'm trying to find some extra $$$ because my primary has been running low on work lately.  I thought I did quite well, only one dictation did I leave three blanks because it was ESL and although I'm usually proficient with ESL, we all know it takes time to acclimate yourself to the dictator.  They sent me a polite e-mail this ...

The NEMT Gal
Aug 07, 2010

Just days after doubting myself a bit and worrying about not finding more work, I landed a great IC gig yesterday!  Got my resume out there and timing is everything.  Better pay, opportunity to advance, straight transcription, and most of all less chance of running out of work.  To all the MTs out there struggling and staying with a company that sucks, it is possible to get out.  It's taken me 2-1/2 years of doing IC to get to this point.  Keep pushing and never g ...

My NEMT Experience
Feb 22, 2011

Just wanted to post my experience with NEMT for everyone.  For me this is an absolutely fantastic place to work.  Basically, if you can produce good quality work and want to be appreciated for it then this would be a good fit. What you've heard about them being picky is true.  If you want to work for them you better bring your A game and you have GOT to be able to accept constructive criticism.  BUT, the QA is very consistent, fair and helpful.  Not to mention real ...

NEMT Not Hiring MTs In MI/IL
Jul 26, 2014

FYI for everyone looking to hire into NEMT, they do not hire anyone located in Michigan or Illinois :) Thought I would let you know so you don't waste your time. I am personally done with the MT game. Start a bus driver job this week, will be making the same I did with all these recent MTSOs with a much better schedule. What a crying shame what the industry has come to. Don't hire with Keystrokes either, they are losing accounts as well. Good luck. ...

NEMT / IC & Schedule
Jun 25, 2015

So is this legit?  Most places I've worked in the past 10 or so years gave me a 24-hour window to accomplish my goal for the day.  I tend to work best in chunks with time in between for, you know, life.  I get that if I were an independent contractor to a lawn service, say, I obviously wouldn't mow lawns at 2:00 a.m.  But "the client needs a schedule" seems a little wonky. Any thoughts - preferably the productive kind and not the snarky kind please... ...

Interesting Award??--NEMT
Aug 09, 2012

My friend who is attending the AHDI conference in Indianapolis just texted me that the company we are ICs for (New England Medical Transcription) was awarded the Employer of the Year.  Now isn't that strange--we're all ICs and the only "employees" are management!  They use ICs illegally and get awarded for it! And here we sit on NJA all the time.    Must have been hard up for nominees is all I can say.  ...

ADHI Finally Got Something Right! NEMT
Aug 10, 2012

ADHI named NEMT as the employer of the year, which for once I actually agree with them on!  Aftering being with this company for over 2 years I have to say they are awesome to work for. For example, The owner sends emails to all the ICs letting them know what is going on with the company as a whole, rather than keeping everyeone in the dark and having everything be all hush hush and on a need to know basis.   We get paid weekly and get $50 each quarter for passing our audits.   ...
