Does anyone have any current information regarding AssistMed or Softscript? sm - Job-Seeking MT

Posted: Sep 14, 2010

Seems the old posts are kind of negative, but things change ... wondered if anyone had any current info.  AssistMed is IC.  SoftScript seems to have a nice benefit package, but they say you cannot change your schedule for 6 months.

Thanks for any info.

Softscript STILL SUCKS - Truth hurts

[ In Reply To ..]
Softscript as of 6 mos ago STLL SUCKED. Horrible audio, dictators, no previous history lookup available, you have to email for a sample of a physician's work if needed...WHICH with the crappy dictators will be NEEDED.

My opinion, avoid SoftScript - see msg

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know anything about AssistMed, but my opinion would be to avoid SoftScript.

There is a reason that SoftScript is always advertising to hire MTs. And it's not because they are always getting huge new accounts. It's because they can't keep anybody.

There is also a reason why SoftScript has such a low required line count of only 135 lines per hour. Because with the combination of their system, bad audio and horrible dictators, it was next to impossible to get my line counts much above that. And I normally type about 250 to 300 lph. But it was a struggle while I was there to get 135. I think the highest I ever got was 150.

And as far as the benefits, when I was there, they only paid $250 towards your medical insurance premium and you had to pay for all of the costs above that, so it wasn't really such a good deal.

SoftScript has lots and lots of horrible ESLs. - Anon

QA is never on the same page.

Months after I quit SS, I got a $300 check with labor board note - saying that is amount they screwed me out of. Who

I couldn't even pass their test. sm - WebQA

I was QA at WMX and still couldn't pass the SoftScript MT test. It's tough. Good luck. I hope something works out for you.

Thanks. I have a phone interview on Thursday, but these posts make it sound not so attractive. - Job-Seeking MT

Precyse sent me an email on Monday that a recruiter would contact me, but I have heard nothing. I passed Amphion's test, but so far nothing. So, AssistMed and Softscript are the only ones interested in me, I guess. :(

Try using reverse psychology when dealing - with Softscript

[ In Reply To ..]
If you love OP reports and that's all you want to do, try telling them that you absolutely hate OP notes. If you tell them that you love OP reports, they won't give you any. But if you tell them that you absolutely hate OP reports, then it's pretty much guaranteed that's all you'll be getting.

At least that was my experience with them. They wouldn't set my routing up for any of the report types that I love and am extremely good at. They only routed me the report types and specialties that are my weakest points.

SS - anon

I tested and passed for SS. The only times they have available was second shift. They require 1 weekend day and you had to work the same schedule as during the week,so if you worked 4-12 (which is their second shift) you worked that either Saturday or Sunday. No ifs, ands or buts!! No flexibility in hours.

No to SoftScript - murde

[ In Reply To ..]
I wasted over 3 years with SoftScript - my advice is to stay far away from them! Their ads say they give yearly reviews. That is an outright lie. Not a review or raise the whole time I worked there. Bad platform, bad voice files and really, really bad management.

Softscript - Anonymous

As I can see, not many people have any good things to say about SS but I can only offer my experience. I have worked for them for over 6 months and so far, it has been a positive experience. I like my accounts and have never had a problem with voice files. I have never really run out of work; if my accounts are caught up you just email the supervisor and then will set you on another account if needed to have work until some on your regular accounts come in. Yes, they do expect you to work 1 day on the weekend (most companies require that any more, at least the big MTSOs) and to stick to a schedule, although I have found that they have been very understanding when I have had to deviate from it now and again. Personally, I like having to work a schedule as I am more apt to get my work done in an 8-hour shift and do not have to worry about having to work in the evenings. Pay is always on time. I previously worked for another MTSO (mostly VR) before I went to work for them and when I switched over, my check increased about 150.00 every 2 weeks (I work part time). They do not micromanage, sometimes you are lucky to get 1 or 2 emails a day. All in all, I have found it to be a positive experience so far and plan on staying. I wish you luck on job hunting and hope you find a good fit soon.

Yes to Softscript - Realitycheck

I love Softscript! I have worked for other MTSOs where they not only micromanage, but the managers have no idea what it takes to do the job. At least the managers at Softscript will jump in and help if needed. I for one like the platform; I have worked on others and everything is relative. As for difficult ESLs, this is part of the job and being able to transcribe them is a necessary skill set. Vent all you want when you have been wronged -- and yes there are plenty of MTSOs who deserve it -- but let's be fair. No job is perfect, though it seems a great majority of MTs expect that.

They subtract lines for supplied normals filled in incorrectly -- sm - maleMT

[ In Reply To ..]
-- and then when you correct their supplied normals -- you have to type that many lines just to get back to 0 lines for the lines they incorrectly supplied with the normal ! ugh! plus leftover work from mornings/bottom of barrel work

Wow .. tons of negatives and only 1 positive. I have an interview with Amphion sm - Job-Seeking MT

this week, and their benefit package looks good, but they might be awful too ... sigh.

Thanks to all for your input.

Truth about Softscript--I work for them - starstruck

I have worked there for 2 years. This is my first and only MT job so I have nothing to compare it with, but this is what I have found.

Pros
1. The people are nice. There are a few exceptions when someone has a bad day, but I never get a knot in my stomach when i get an email from someone, which is rare because:
2. If you do your work they will leave you alone. You literally can goes weeks without hearing from someone.
3. Very encouraging to newbies. They really try hard to help you adapt.

Cons
1. They are always having server problems/tech issues. You can log on for your shift and not be able to type for 20 minutes because the server is down, jobs stuck in the system, etc. It's tough to make line counts when you can't type.
2. Tech support. Wait--forget that one. There *is* no tech support. No matter how many emails you send you will only get a reply from Support if one of them is taking a break from World of Warcraft. Bad, bad, bad.
3. You are required to look up the names and addresses of out of system docs, nursing homes, other hospitals, etc. so that your report is as complete as possible. No typing, no money as you are now a researcher, not an MT.
4. No raises. To get a raise less than 10% of jobs go to QA. When it looks like you might get a raise, they switch your account (mandatory QA for first 2 weeks), add new ESL physicians, and otherwise make it impossible. Then they tell you "sorry--too many jobs to QA."

It's for the last reason that I'm looking for a new job. It's like the old joke where you have to answer 3 questions in order to get a raise from SoftScript:

Them: What was the name of the movie about a great big ship that went down in the Atlantic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet?
You: Titanic.
Them: Were there any survivors?
You: Yes.
Them: Name them.

Sorry, SoftScript, I can't name them, so I guess I'm stuck making the same coolie wages working for you. Time to move on.

I actually accepted the job, so I'm simply hoping for the best. sm - Job-Seeking MT

The pay is above what most have offered me for employee status, and the evening and weekend differentials are nice. I was told that IT was available 24/7, so if what you say is true, that is disappointing. As far as the QA thing goes, unless the acounts are truly rotten, I cannot see myself leaving a huge amount of blanks, but then again, I have been doing this since Methuselah was a boy, so you'd hope I would have learned something along the way (*smile*).

I wish you luck in your job search. It will help having some experience under your belt. I was lucky enough to be trained on the job 100 years ago, but nowadays it is the old Catch 22 -- you cannot get a job because you have no experience, and you cannot get any experience because no one will give you a job.
