In years past I could make around $20/hour. But - that was way before all Posted: Jul 17th, 2018 - 1:59 pm In Reply to: How much should a transcriptionist earn? - sm
of the bad changes that happened in the industry with the big box companies, Nuance and MModal. In recent times I was able to average around $16/hr if I met all metrics and did not get busted on audits for bogus errors - that was with straight typing. Once I started editing, my average hourly fell to around $12 to $14/hr. The way this industry has deteriorated, if somebody offered me $16 to be paid hourly, I'd be thrilled. Hope that helps. The work and skills required are definitely worth more than this, but I think that is about the best one could hope for these days.
