It doesn't mean diddly squat if you've been doing 25 years of one specialty unless that job is in that one specialty. Or general clinic, even. You honestly don't encounter hospital type dictation in a strictly clinic setting, even if a few specialty terms were brought up. Bottom line.

In hospital dictation (acute care) there are medications, procedures, surgeries, and terminology that you will never hear uttered in a clinic setting. You certainly would recognize some of the meds, etc., but not even close to what you'd need for acute care.
