Transitioning to Radiology - Radish Posted: Feb 16th, 2018 - 9:13 am In Reply to: I Went From - Acute Care to Radiology
I too transitioned from Acute Care to Radiology. As another poster mentioned having experience with surgeries and procedures was very helpful. Knowledge in Neurology and Orthopedics is very beneficial as well.
I had never done Radiology at all, but applied at a local Open MRI Imaging Center. They called me and I interviewed and tested for the position. I figured I would give it a shot, even though I had never done Radiology before.
I have had absolutely no problem with the transition. Accuracy is an absolute must with extreme attention to detail regarding measurements and contrast injections for various report types, i.e. PET scans, MRI's, vertebroplasties, CT scans, etc.
I get paid a good hourly rate so there is no pressure to rush through reports which helps ensure a quality result.
I would say if you have experience in acute care it is definitely do-able.
