Today I figured out my problem with this same - problem was Instant Text

Not sure which expander you use, but Instant Text deletes words with Ctrl+Space so you have to disable that in the Client Configurator (up arrow).

It was driving me crazy and I was just not using it, so that was a relief to figure that one out.
