You say in your question that you've been told there is so much work, which is why they want you to take the training outside of your scheduled hours. You're part time, which means you don't go into overtime. They don't want you to take the training during evening/night hours because that's when they need you to be working on getting the backlog down.
Workforce replaces Teamwork, so it's where you will log in/out, ask for time off, etc.
