the count in Word. I had a small IC account and didn't want to buy line counting software. I counted characters, spaces, and paragraphs. The reason for counting paragraphs is that when you press enter for a hard return, it is essentially creating a space. Counting the those 3 items gives you a fairly accurate count. IMHO anyway.
