They must smell the desperation by posting a rate of 85 cents a minute, as an IC to boot. Many Canadian MT companies do pay by the minute and pay around 1 dollar to 1.20 a minute (can be higher for other languages). This has not gone up in years and is not very good imo. This kind of transcription work requires research. We are not paid by the hour people, paid on production. The rock bottom rate for this kind of work would be 1 dollar per minute. Anything less is ridiculous. I know there will be some people who will say they can transcribe 30 minutes of dictation in an hour. Are they able to do it consistently? What about research and proofreading? It is all about doing work at a reasonable rate and making a consistently good income. If you could send work in that contained blanks, no research to do at all (or very little), it might be okay, but we know it's not like that. Perfection is expected.
