detailed example of a scribe day - iScribes Posted: Feb 28th, 2017 - 7:16 pm In Reply to: iScribes - Question - FlatbrokeMT
At iScribes in particular, a typical day would be checking the interface at some point to see if your provider has uploaded any recordings. If so, you could begin working on them if you like. Most of them would be recordings of patient visits. You are listening to the visit and pulling out/typing the important parts which go into the medical record (you would have gone through extensive training to do this, so no worries). You have to finish all of your provider recordings by noon the next day. I like to start on them in the afternoon and do maybe 2 or 3 small sessions to break it up. You are keeping track of your time (you are paid hourly), but there is no time clock. When you're all done typing in the interface (through Chrome, on a Mac or PC), you copy and paste the text to an EMR such as Epic or Athena (again, you've been trained in this). Some providers only work 2 or 3 days a week and others may work 5 or 6 days a week. You are matched with a provider based on your desired available hours. Once you get good at one provider, you can take on more, if you'd like more hours.
