Work for a medical organization in NY. Since last week work that was previously available to me to pick up from a pool of voice files to transcribe (and there was a considerable amount) I now no longer have access to. Spoke to the person I report to, who told me that if they need me to transcribe anything, they will let me know.
I have NOT been formally fired or let go, just left hanging. When I attempt to email or call the person I report to, now they don't respond (whereas previous to all of this we had open communication).
Regardless of my production/hours per week, they classify me as "part-time". Am I able to file for partial unemployment benefits in my situation? I've attempted to contact the Dept. of Labor to see what my rights are, but you can never get a live representative on the phone, it's all automated.
Anyone been in a similar situation?
