California has many benefits for their employees. They were required to pay for breaks, pay for internet service. They also mandated that PTO had to roll over from year to year, etc. There were a lot of things that added up to making CA MTs too expensive to hold on to. The minimum wage increase was not fully in effect yet, so that likely was not the problem, at least not yet.
