To Be Clear - MTs for Change

Posted: Sep 23rd, 2016 - 7:27 pm In Reply to: Petition Funding - MTs for Change

To be clear, this isn't a money-making scheme on my part. I can do so much volunteering with my own time and funds. Somebody here asked about how they can donate money. So when the opportunity presented itself by change.org, I set it up for those that want to do so. It is a free will offering IF you want to organize and help pay for the fees it will likely take to get the word out and get representation. I've already made logical pitches and recommendations to CEOs in the past, so we have to be prepared that presenting them with a petition alone may not bring change. AHIMA and AHDI have indicated that they can't get involved in a petition, and there may be a conflict of interest with the contributions made to them by MTSOs. So, at some point, we have to organize for change, and explore advertising, media coverage, legal representation, collective bargaining, etc. The petition will also help with that, stating our case and base of support. I heard some people don't want to pay union dues, okay, we can try to find low cost alternatives, but the reality is, most union protected industries do pay something for that. The local hospital here with MTs in unions are making $15 to $20 an hour with good benefits. You get what you pay for and/or are willing to accept.
Frankly with some of the attitudes on here about this, it isn't surprising we're where we are at today. Time to adjust attitudes and strategies.
