It goes back 3 years from the date you file. The time I was a Transcend employee before the official switch to Nuance was included. No attorney is needed. It's actually a quite simple process. Most of the time is just waiting for your meeting date. I estimated my time daily at averaging 20 minutes for checking email, etc, but I realized afterward that 20 minutes is a quite low estimate.
