I work for three different companies, two different platforms, two laptops. I don't actually have a desk. I use an end table for my laptops and a lap desk (beanbag side on my lap, wood tray on top) to hold my Microsoft ergo keyboard. I actually have two keyboards and two foot pedals so I don't have to swap back and forth, although I do have only one mouse to share between the two. One machine has three USB ports and the other has four. Unless you are short on ports, I don't know why you would need a special connector for your keyboard.
