I do QA and auditing for a company and we don't mark off for those. I worked for Nuance for a bit as a QA and they are doing what they are told to do so it's not the QA's fault. They get audited too and if they hadn't marked you off, then they would have gotten marked off. I am thankful where I work, they aren't so strict on QA and scoring. Pretty much if it doesn't change the context, we don't score it, but send out a report for educational purposes with the notation on it. I couldn't deal with the strict scoring with Nuance so I quit. I didn't like marking off and scoring for things like that.
You still need your work QA'ed and audited whether you are IC or employee. They have to follow standards and make sure everyone is doing good work. We have a 98% minimum standard or above where I am at for the MTs and QA.
