It is likely that you would not be able to work in this field, nor in medical coding, either. There are now extensive privacy and security requirements, due to the fact that patient healthcare data and personal information is a target for theft and criminal activity. Employers, including those who contract with ICs, do extensive background checks. They are required to do this in order to mitigate risk of HIPAA violations, and in coding, because there is a financial relationship to the work. There is not going to be any way you can hide your background. It is unfortunate, but medical care is probably a career field that you would not be eligible for in any capacity.
