What you are asking is what got us outsourced - in the first place, BTDT Posted: Oct 8th, 2015 - 9:32 am In Reply to: Transcribing directly from hospitals - annonymous
Worked in house at a hospital for 12 years before they sent us home to work, said they could use our space for expanding their ER. We were not on the internet, the hospital had it completely set up for us, downloaded work from the hospital and sent back there over the telephone lines. For awhile we were their employees, paid the same as in house, covered with the same insurance and workman's comp, just like we were sitting at the hospital. Fast forward a year or maybe less, called into the hospital and told we had a choice. Either outsourced to a MTSO or the hospital would try and find another place in the hospital for us to work, not in transcribing though. I know of no one who stayed in house because most wanted to do transcribing. We were told it would save the hospital money to outsource us, so like I said BTDT. I really do not know if more costly for a hospital with MTSO, just think the hospital is not paying insurance, retirement, things like that when we are not working directly for them.
