I'm not sure but I found something called a fish retractor used for abdominal surgery. There is even a picture. You might just google that and see what you think???
I've always just used "small bowel," but then noticed most put "small-bowel," I assume to differentiate it as being part of the intestine as opposed to a small, or little bowel. Okay, that makes sense, so I stated hyphenating small-bowel. However, I just got marked off by QA for putting in a hyphen! No matter what you do or don't do, you're screwed! I do believe they just look for ways to antagonize so you'll never feel appreciated. ...
Someone had some small bowel removed and an ____ repair. I can't tell whether she is saying endoside (which I can't find) or end-to-side (which I'm also not finding much pertaining to the bowels).

Thanks for thinking about this so early in the morning!! ...
I googled the phrase, it came back "diverticulated" small bowel. Is it acceptable to use diverticulated in this sentence? Is "diverticulized" a word? Thank you in advance for any help. ...
I know I am just having a dense moment. I know it must be a form of ileum. Or I think I know. But I am just coming up blank.

Can anyone offer some different words to describe bowel sounds on the physical exam? I've looked online and the ones I've found (normal, present, active, positive) just don't sound like what the doctor is saying. Of course he sounds like he's turning away & speeding up his words when he says whatever it is he's saying, so it could be anything, but it sounds like it starts with an "n" and has a t sound in it and is possibly two syllables. Any ideas? ...
s/l bilious and bowel "t i l l i t a t i o n" . I am also not sure if "bilious" is the correct word either, doesn't seem to make sense in this context. Any help appreciated. ...

Surgeon says:
Two screws fractured at the level of the bone. They were ____________ and removed in the usual fashion.
The blank sounds like "truffened", "troughened", "truffined"? Some sort of removal. I have absolutely no idea.
Thanks in advance. :) ...
Pay us FULL transcription rate for poor voice recognition that we must spend a lot of time fixing. If it has ONLY a a couple of errors, that would be the only justified reason for less cents-per-line voice recognition pay. Shame on you, Focus. ...
Patient has SOB and now renal insufficiency.
In PE, doctor says, what sounds like, "Abdomen is soft with two bowel sounds." The rest is very clear, just never heard it dictated as "two bowel sounds" before. Does "two" sound right? Thank you in advance. ...
I have one of "those" dictators. I know. . . . . who doesn't, right?
This guy is a native English speaker, but he's a speedy mumbler. I struggle with him, but work on each one of his that I get so that I can get better. Just when I think I'm getting better with him one of his comes back from QA completely marked up. Some are changes that could be debated, but some are just stupid mistakes that I should have caught.
I'm just frustrated ...
Also, although voice recognition has taken off, do you think there will always be companies that won't do it?
I think I feel more comfortable with the small companies than the big ones.

After struggling with names like Siobhan, Ahleksi (concocted to prove a point), and Yvan, I am so happy to have a "normal name" such as what sounds like "John Carter." Whew! Finally! A no-brainer! But I start to look it up-- no such thing in the data base. Well! It just happens to be "John Carter" spelled "Gionn Kharter." This is just a not-real-life illustration. But isn't it irritating when you finally get a regular-sounding name and it's not so regular, and the d ...
