Bowel sounds - Kathy

Can anyone offer some different words to describe bowel sounds on the physical exam? I've looked online and the ones I've found (normal, present, active, positive) just don't sound like what the doctor is saying. Of course he sounds like he's turning away & speeding up his words when he says whatever it is he's saying, so it could be anything, but it sounds like it starts with an "n" and has a t sound in it and is possibly two syllables. Any ideas?

[ In Reply To ..]It doesn't sound like there's enough syllables in the word for it to be normoactive...but he is saying it very quickly and quietly. There could be 10 syllables in there for all I know. If I don't come up with anything closer to what it sounds like, I think I'll go with that and just flag it. Thanks for the help!

[ In Reply To ..]After listening to it again, over and over, is it possible that he's saying "notable" or maybe "no" and another word after it? Actually, I've listened to it so much that I'm not even sure if he's saying "bowel sounds" anymore. Please help!

Abdomen soft, nontender, with..." Now it sounds like he's saying "with no" something. It definitely isn't bruits, and it's the end of the sentence. He goes into current medications after that.

I've always just used "small bowel," but then noticed most put "small-bowel," I assume to differentiate it as being part of the intestine as opposed to a small, or little bowel. Okay, that makes sense, so I stated hyphenating small-bowel. However, I just got marked off by QA for putting in a hyphen! No matter what you do or don't do, you're screwed!
