s/l sicklean stroke - Tina
Posted: Nov 29, 2011
I'm transcribing a report and it s/l sicklean/sickleanian stroke. The patient has hemoglobin SC disease with possible OSA so I was thinking maybe he is saying sickle anemia stroke but it doesn't quite match what I am hearing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
since stroke is a complication of sickle cell... sm - debbereye

...it sounds to me like your doctor is making up a word, just like you typed it. It would depend on whether you're transcribing verbatim or not as to what you would transcribe. If verbatim, I might transcribe "Sicklean" stroke with quotes, but otherwise I think you're safe to transcribe stroke of sickle cell anemia.
Thank you both - Tina

I found the word sicklemia and believe that is what he is saying. It all sounds so much alike, it is hard to differentiate sometimes. I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to help me on this one!

VR's Had A Stroke Feb 04, 2013Today the doctor was listing the Impressions. When he came to about the third one, he suddenly gave a loud sneeze - "A-choo!" - and VR printed, "Possible passed stone." At least we're needed for something. ...
