"Garden" test - sm

Doc says this term several times during the arm examination for this patient.

He says "garden" test on right side was positive with resistance to extension of wrist. Also uses the phrase "reverse garden."

If it helps, this doc has a very strong New York accent.

This exam is on the upper extremities, specifically the elbows, wrists, and hands. Thanks for the response though.

doctor with a thick NY accent - could be Phalen's - there is a reverse Phalen's test as well with wrist/finger extension. I'm only suggesting Phalen's since you mentioned the thick doctor's accent (the possibilities are limitless with an accent). :)

Thanks. That would make sense and I already thought of that, even looking to see if Phalen's had another name, but coming up empty. Definitely a hard sound at the beginning. He says it over and over and it really sounds like garden, guarding, etc. I have listened and relistened and can't make it to be Phalen's at all. I am going to keep thinking on this one as I would hate to have to leave all these blanks for one word!

but don't guess if you are not sure.

Cozen test is to check for lateral epicondylitis (elbow tenderness).

Reverse Cozen is to check for medial epicondylitis (elbow tenderness).

Phalen (can be reverse Phalen) is to check for carpal tunnel syndrome.

I think Cozen is it. The test demonstration in the video is exactly what he describes. Strange way to pronounce it though. I think I will still have to send through to QA to be sure as it definitely sounds like an "R" in it the way he is saying it.
