Does anyone know what BNPT stands for?? It's obviously associated with the BNP lab test, but nothing is found in a google search. Any help is greatly appreciated!

and I checked it on Medlexicon; but I think the "T" in BNPT stands for test, so if the patient has/is suspected to have CHF, you may be safe in transcribing as dictated. Otherwise, leave a blank and query your QA.

then I don't know but it could possibly be BNP and NT or BUN and PT. It depends on the patient's problems.

Is this a string of labs, or is there some sort of sentence with it? Also, keep in mind that N can sound like M, P can sound like T and vice-versa.

He could also be tripping over himself. I honestly wouldn't just type it and assume that the T is test.

BNP (B-type natriuretic peptide) can easily be confused with BMP. When it was just BNP -- I could differentiate it between the BMP as it would be followed by a # if it was BNP (used for testing risks of PE or DVT). BMP (basic metabolic profile) would be followed by lab test and values.

Lately BNP test is being dictated as BNPT (B-type natriuretic peptide test) by various facilities most likely to help differentiate it from BMP/BNP. Hope this helps!

It is the d-dimer test that is used in the assessment of PE and DVT.

The BNP is used to assess for heart failure.
