Going to Editscript VR - blondie

I am going to be going to ES VR. I have been working on Dictaphone Extext straight typing and a little VR. I did not find VR in Dictaphone to be good. I have done ES before, and I believe it is better.

Considering the chump change we make to do VR, do you think you are paid enough to proof your work after you have edited the report, or do you do a once over and go on to the next one? I mean, really, with what we make, we really have to do a once over to make anything. I just want some other people's take on this.

Also, when you come to something you do not know and have to look for it, how long are you willing to spend looking for a term, etc on VR? If you spend too long, how are you going to make money? I have done very little VR, so I wanted to get others take on these issues to see where you stand.

I consider with VR that I am proofing an already typed report, so it gets edited by me and sent. I don't proof it after I have edited it.

As far as looking things up, it depends on the situation. If it is a clearly articulated term that I am not familiar with, I will research it since keeping up with terminology is part of my job. If I can't find it and feel it is something that I really need to be up to speed on, I flag it for QA.

However, if it is a problem with VR garbage spit out because Dr. Mumbles is not making it clear what he means and I cannot make it out, it gets a blank and I move on as it has always been a part of my job not to 'guess'.

I always thought eScription is a transcription platform, not a VR software - ?

both traditional and VR reports. I don't know if that makes it a transcription platform with VR software capability?

You must remember there is a living, breathing patient on the other end of the report and if you do not doublecheck yourself, an error may go through that could cause harm. With all I know about reports and what to do preop and all that, I was on the end of a very very bad report that was typed wrong and just glanced over by an editor.

Does anyone know if there is any difference in EditScript MT 9 and EditScript MT 9.12? If there is, how can we update this? I have read to many articles on MT stars to get my smartype to work with Editscript. Last night it worked briefly but I would have the hit the spacebar and the type the first letter and then choose the expansion. Then it did not work again. The hospital I work for changed over the Editscript last year. Changeover went relatively smoothly, and we still had plenty of work to keep all the transcriptionists busy (after we stopped outsourcing the overflow we used to have). Recently, the hospital switched to Epic electronic medical record system, and within a week the transcription workload plumeted to probably 40% of our former workload --not enough to keep our transcription staff busy. It seems the doctors/nurses/etc ...
