Anyone on Cornerstone SR? - Tabby

I would really love to know if anyone here is using Cornerstone for SR? How are your line counts? I have been on my account for years, SR for about 4 months. I am not making any more lines at all! I can't get a straight answer out of OS whether or not other MTs are making it. I suspect not, but how do I know?

My impression after reading all this here is that C-stone is just not very good. I have to correct like every other word. I am using IT as much as possible too.

Anyone care to comment? If you are doing great, I want to know that too and what are you doing?

I used Cornerstone last year when they converted almost every account over to it. Even prior to SR, I noticed a drop in my line count. The platform is clunky and there is a lot of entering information on different panels which slows you down. They they started VR, and things got worse. As you say, correcting every other word. This was lsat year, so it seems nothing has improved. Management kept saying there were some MTs who were making just as much money and they gave us ramp-up pay, told us if we used the function keys we could all do that.. I am not against function keys - I use them with Escription - but with Cornerstone, whether I used them or not, still could not get a good line count. When they changed my account to just about the worst account I have ever worked on, I ran for my life. I wwas making about $200 (net) a week. (pre-Cornerstone, pre-VR, I had take-home pay of $700-$1000).

that I would never be able to make the same money on SR as straight typing. There were too many corrections to make in the documents. It seems those who type the minimum 1200-1500 might benefit (I wouldn't say they doubled their lines, but increased them perhaps), but for those of us typing anywhere from 2000-2500 lines a day, we are going to be out some money.

It doesn't take much to edit a document. It's just the amount of time spent editing versus the amount of pay you receive for doing that editing. I personally think my pay should not go down at all, after all, I'm still producing a document that looks great for the doctor.

I don't necessarily mind the editing but find that it actually takes MORE focus and concentration to edit a document than to straight type it for me. It's much more draining mentally also. Of course, these companies don't want to hear that. I definitely believe the pay for VR should be higher due to this and other factors.

VR/SR is there to make it easier for us, you don't have to type as much, once it learns things, you don't have to look as much up. Face it, a child could do our job with a good SR/VR program. You are not producing anything, you are looking at it. If I invested a few thousands of dollars in a VR program in order to streamline my hospital and cut costs, I would NOT be paying a person the same amount of money as if they were actually working for that money. If you and your VR are GOOD, then you can speed up a doctor to 150% or 200% and get 2,3,4,5x as much work done.

People complaining about VR and their pay and MTing in general are greatly out of touch with reality. Computers can now do our job almost as good as we can. Just like the horse and buggy, we as typists with a billable skill are going out the door.

I still type a lot. It doesn't seem to be learning anything, because I have been correcting the same things for 4 months. No child could do my job.

I believe I am producing a quality document when I correct the total garbage coming at me every day. It's not happening by magic!

I also have a little trouble with your statement about actually working for that money. Why do you think our time should be worth any less now than it was before?

Tell you what, if you want to let the computer do the job, that's fine with me. They can get their letters signed as "Parrot-beak" and "K-wire colchicine acutely." How about it?

I don't know what planet these people live on or is it planet on which they live? Anyway, to say a primate could do our job is a statement from someone out of touch with reality. Must some MTSO lawyer or accountant who decided to get into the biz and don't understand the realities of our profession. It takes as long if not longer to edit a messed up document as it does to type it from scratch and we should be paid accordingly. Period.

from my Cornerstone VR days. I just loved those company e-mails that said they had to get back on track (especially when it was an e-mail announcing something that would result in a pay cut for the MT). I had to get back on track too and I couldn't do it with them.

Yes, change happens and technology advances, but it is not always for the better (the atom bomb comes to mind). Just because you enjoy editing 2,3,4,5x as much to earn half the going rate of what a traditional transcriptionist makes doesn't mean the rest of us enjoy it.

If editing VR were as easy as you state, then there would not be a board of new MTs trying to find jobs, they'd be hired to edit fresh out of school or better yet, they could forego school because according to your post as long as the platform is good, "a child could do our job."

Stop fooling yourself and others, MT skills are still required to ensure accurate VR reports or there would be no MT editors.

Fact remains. The pay for SR/VR sucks.

Really, truly, can you??? You lie to entrap the MTs into VR, which is total and unredeemable GARBAGE, so of course it is obvious you are management SCUM.

You can't fool everyone forever. VR is garbage. "DISCHARGE DIAGONAL NOSES". Just one example of the type of GARBAGE in a finished document courtesy of the wonderful world of VR.

How soon until someone dies because of this GARBAGE? Or has someone already died? With all the accidents in hospitals yearly, I suspect many of these are due to the garbage put out by VR/poorly paid dregs of the MT world.

Sad situation.

I've been on CStone many months now, and it stinks. So much editing, even deleting whole lines of gibberish that comes from nowhere (dictator not even talking). I was doing 1200 lines a day straight (taking lots of breaks because of spine problem and arthritis) and now do 1200 lines SR (at less pay). CS hasn't improved one bit since I've been on it. It has to be the crappiest program out there. I despise it and the company that switched over to it.

I worked for Spheris and used platform called Cornerstone. There are some MTs on the account who get to use the MQ platform, DEP. Cornerstone is very slow and I was wondering if the MQ platform is faster/better/whatever. If anyone knows answer, please, please email me. Thank you. PS Any former Spheris MTs who LOVE Cornerstone, I don't want to hear about it. I know all shortcuts and use SH quite effectively. The thing is slow and I'm peeved ...

Switching from Classic to Cornerstone is killing my income! My CCM tells me, like all bosses do when they switch to SR, that no one is going to lose their jobs, and it will be better. No. What happens is our pay drops drastically, and then the work doesn't take as long to do. Work that took 100 MTs to do can now be done by 50, and MTs lose out. Good for MQ....bad for us. I just got finished with 2 days training of the new Fluency 7.1 program (formerly DocQScribe). I think this DocQScribe platform is much harder than Cornerstone, and we had to learn DocQScribe in 4 hours one day plus 5 hours the next day. I am greatly disheartened that you still have comments from when an old supervisor was there and that is hurting our company. We place adds with you all on occasion and would like to know how to reply to some of these nasty comments. At least give a company a chance to defend themselves from old disgruntled transcribers. you ARE paid for CC's and pt names that YOU type in which might be helpful if you do a lot of clinics. You are NOT paid for headings and subheadings that Cornerstone puts in such as required headings and any headings put in by ASR. I've been working for Cornerstone Professional Services for a few years now. I love working for them! They pay on time (direct deposit) every time. I don't know what former staff was like, but I've read some negative reviews about them. I can honestly say the current staff is VERY supportive. They do everything possible to make the MT successful. Any critiquing that is done is always in good taste and and even good humor. The supervisor is a transcriptionist herself, ...
