Medical spell checker and line counting software - LM

Posted: Dec 29, 2010

I am a new MT graduate and am searching for a good medical spell checker software that includes line counting, as well as being reasonably priced.  Any recommendations?  I've checked some websites, but am still unsure.

Thank you for your help.

I assume you are talking about Medquist. If so, MQ has it's own spell checker. You'll find your line count in Doquscribe. Click on "detail" where you will find the line count for each job. All new hires need to start using Google or some other browser to find answers to medical questions. There isn't enough time to be posting here for answers. Surely all new hires were oriented to the MQ sites upon hire.

Why do you assume the OP works for MQ? - sm

Nothing in her post suggests that she does.

Not everyone on these boards works for "the Q," you know.

Sorry - LM

I apologize if I was unclear in my message. I am a new graduate and am just getting ready to start the job search. Medquist is not in the picture at this time. I did Google several spell checkers and counting software sites, but the more I saw, the more unsure I became of what was good and what wasn't.

Being new, I'm still becoming familiar with what I should and should not post, so forgive me if I shouldn't have put that one up. Thank you.

You're fine, LM - this is exactly the kind of question - that belongs on this board

You'll get the hang and flow of the boards.

The moderator will let you know if you have mis-posted.

I use Sylcount for line counting - they also have a spell checker (sm)

I don't know if they have anything that combines the two.

I do like their line counting software.

I'll check that out. Thank you for the information.

Line counting and spellchecking software - ancient MT

for spellchecking software, I would definitely recommend Stedmans. Line counting programs are a different story, as many platforms have line counting software built in. Before I received security clearance from my hospital, I just relied on the Word line counting software and divided by 65 -- Sylcount was pretty accurate with that. However, once I started on the "regular platform," I actually found out that my line counts increased. I go in and check every report and take the line count from what "the hospital software" gives me and it is actually more generous in the long run.
Thank you - LM

It appears Stedman's is a spellchecker's best friend, from what I've read. I'll get the line count figured out too. Thank you all for your help.
