Instant Text and Word Autocorrect?? - typetypetypeaway

I was just offered a job and the company uses Instant Text as their expander. I have over 1900 entries in Word's autocorrect in the MSO1033.acl file. This has probably been asked and answered a thousand times over, but can't seem to locate the results: Can I take my Word autocorrect and import the entries into Instant Text without have to copy and paste them in individually? I know many of the MTs do use Instant Text. If you can, could you tell me how difficult it is, if it is? Thanks in advance for all your help. I am on my way back to a job after 14 months of being unemployed...

Just think about how you want to set them up. I really like IT, more flexible than auto correct. My more than 2 words I use first letter each word, one word first 3 and last, 2 words first two letters of each word. There may be better ways.
I was so confused when I started using it with a new job that I only used phrases but you can put single words into phrase column and phrases into word column.
Now I put long words not used a lot in words.
You can use keys instead of space bar to expand which is helpful if you are using abbreviations that are in IT ...
I used auto correct for words I always want capitalized.

Thanks for the response. What does, "think about how you want them set up". Do I have to do something different once they go to Instant Text? For instance, I have aaax as abdominal aortic aneurysm. Would I have to change that to something else because of the way I initally had this in autocorrect? Thanks.

Using Autocorrect short forms in Instant Text - MMK

You can use the same short forms you used in Autocorrect once you have imported your .acl file and opened it into the active Glossary list.
All your Autocorrect entries will come up in the Phrase advisory as they all have dedicated short forms.
To expand Phrase advisory entries you have 2 options:
1. Instant Text Options - expand with marker keys such as the semi-colon
2. Classic Options - expand with the space bar and/or punctuation marks

Thanks for the info. I will make a copy of this and save it for the IT guy at the company I will be working. There was a question as to whether it would work with their platform.

Instant Text 7 works with all major platforms and systems.

I am not sure exactly, it is a RIS platform, not sure of the name yet. But so far everyone is saying my autocorrect should work within the IT when I have it imported. I am not sure of the Instant Text verison, yet either. Will find out during the week.

I followed the instructions of a poster below for importing my .acl autocorrect to Instant Text V via the importer. It seemed to go. Hello, Can anyone tell me how to convert the glo file in Instant Text to autocorrect? I have asked for help from Instant Text with no response. I am chaning jobs. Current company uses IT on company-owned/provided computer (required). The platform is Word-based and has AutoCorrect, but IT is the expander company uses. New company also will be company-owned/provided computer (required). The platform is the same, but they use AutoCorrect. I am having problems with Instant Text linking to my word program. I just started w Transcend and they use Beyond Text as their wp. I am using the trial version of IT Pro V and cannot get it to link. The red light will not go off and when i press on the up arrow to link the program nothing happens. Anyone have any good websites for Instant text tutorial or questions? I did read through productivity talk and did find what I needed. I have not used this software in years. I use autotext, but I would like to use the line counting software that comes wtih IT. Just wondered about what you all think is the best expander to use with VR. I used to use Shorthand up to a couple of years ago and now work with Instant Text. It seems to me that Shorthand is very very popular with the VR crowd. Does anyone use Instant Text successfully with VR?
