DSS Help ASAP! Please? - Too Pooped To Compute

I'm trying to test, and she sent me a DSS file attached to an e-mail. I downloaded it to my computer, but now how on earth do I play it? I downloaded a free DSS player, Olympus DSS Lite, but can't figure out how to get the file into it to play. I've read the entire manual, lol, and just can't figure it out.

Can someone tell me how to play this thing? I've been an MT for 27 years, but never have dealt with DSS files. I wrote back and asked them for help, but they haven't replied. I don't know if that means I messed up and have already lost the job, or if it's a test to see if I can figure out how to do it. I told them up front I hadn't done this before! Thanks.

I believe Express Scribe will play the file also.

I do not think you have capability to start and stop with the Olympus DSS Lite. Did you try to double click the voice file. It should open automatically with the Olympus DSS player.

Program, Switch, allows you to change voice file to another type - of file. Free trial. I love it. nm

Thanks y'all. I downloaded a free trial of ByteScribe and finally got it to work. But now I'm not sure if it's the player or the test file, but this has got to be the worst sound quality I've ever heard in 27 years! Guess I can write this job off. :sigh:

It's weird, the job was just posted this morning, saying they needed multiple MTs, and now the ad is gone and no one has ever answered my e-mail. Should I even try to finish this and send it in or just write it off?

I'm new to these boards, would like advice from experienced readers, thanks.

this is not a scam...lol. i took the ad down because in less than an hour i had already received over 50 resumes. obviously, there is no need to have people continue to apply for this position.

Sorry, hope I didn't offend anyone! I just hadn't received any replies to my e-mails regarding the test, and then the posting disappeared. I saw where there had been other scams on this board, and I'm new so didn't know what to think. Thanks for clearing that up!

I did get the file played and the test report sent, hope I'm not too late. I did mention in my initial e-mail that I didn't have the software currently, but would get it, and was asked to test afer that. Thanks! :)

When using Shorthand, I type a word and then if I have to put a comma after the expanded work the word comes up again.
