BayScribe - utilize the function keys on the keyboard instead of a foot pedal - Claudia

Posted: Mar 05, 2011

I have never used the BayScribe platform, but before I move forward with future prospects utilizing such, I would like to know if it is possible to utilize the function keys on the keyboard instead of a foot pedal - on BayScribe.  I appreciate any feedback.  Thank you.

I used Bayscribe for about 5 years and absolutely LOVED IT! I do not remember using the foot pedal for anything but listening to the audio. Bayscribe was the most efficient and user-friendly platform I have ever used. Enjoy!

Thank you for your response. I was wondering (hoping) if there was another platform out there (BayScribe) that did not require a foot pedal at all, so that I would not have to invest in anything extra - just transition into it. The current platform I use, EMDAT, is such that you can utilize a foot pedal OR only the function keys, which is great! The keys control play/stop, rewind, fast forward, etc.

Thank you again for your input:)

Bayscribe Foot Pedal Settings?
Dec 19, 2013

I'm working on Bayscribe for the first time ever and I'm getting pretty frustrated with the foot pedal functions.  On every other plaform I've ever worked on, whenever you lift your foot from the pedal, it would automatically rewind the dictation a few seconds.  It's not doing that on here and it's driving me crazy and is really slowing me down.  I've been into the settings of the job player, but there doesn't seem to be an option to enable this. ...

Laptop-foot Pedal And Keyboard/mouse Issues
May 01, 2015

Hello, I have an HP Pavilion laptop. I'm having issues with my foot pedal and keyboard/mouse. I connect my foot pedal directly to USB port on laptop. I connect keyboard/mouse and headphones to USB HUB port. I continually lose foot pedal control. When I disconnect the keyboard/mouse, the pedal works again. Could this be a memory or hard drive issue (not enough). Do I need to externally add something to this laptop (just bought the laptop 3 months ago). Any advice or assistance would be ap ...

Keyboard CTRL/SFT Keys Don't Like ME Work
Mar 28, 2013

Anyone having trouble finding a keyboard that can hold up to the heavy use on the Ctrl and Shift keys?  I use these to block by word.  If you have any suggestions, appreciate them!  I struggle with keyboarding, especially with the numbered lists of drugs, and wonder any one transcribes these instead of edits them.  I used to do that, but got into the editing habit hoping to help Speech learn it and help my coworkers.  Tired of waiting for what isn't gonna happen.&nb ...

How To Help A Sticky Keyboard? Keys Seem To Be A Hard Touch But
Jun 22, 2014

Seems like for a while now the keys take a harder touch, sometimes they don't connect and I have to hit a key twice. it's a microsoft wireless comfort keyboard, model 1027.  I have taken canned air and blown dust and cat hair out of it,  wondering if using alcohol swabs gently in each key mechanism might help?  Space bar works well, seems to be only specific keys that stick or don't connect well. Backspace is one of the sticky ones.   Any suggestions apprec ...

Using Foot Pedal...Help!
Jun 24, 2010

I'm over testing for the Q on their test site and thought I had installed my foot pedal but it's not working.  Does anyone know how to use your foot pedal on the test rather than that silly F1 function key to start and stop the audio?  I'm afraid I'll be here all night getting 5-6 words at a time with the "hand" method as opposed to the "foot" method, LOL! Any suggestions greatly appreciated...Grazi! ...

Testing Without Foot Pedal
Jan 23, 2010

I was curious whether anyone on this board has had experience doing transcription without a foot pedal and using their mouse to control the transcription player.  I recently tested at Wedmedx for QA and Rad jobs and they wouldn't let me use a foot pedal, I also couldn't slow it down.  I missed passing the QA test by 2 points and the rad test by 6 points.  A couple of the docs were ESL and the sound quality was not that great.  I have years and years of transcription experience bu ...
