struggling to make line count every pay period - Dazed and Confused

I have been here for two years and it seems like I am just struggling to make line count every pay period. I feel like I am walking up a hill in a big wind storm, moving but not really getting anywhere. I work nights and I am getting too tired at night. I know most of this is my fault, but worked as an MT before and did great, no problems what so ever and great pay. Does anyone else feel like this?

I believe in capitalism and the right of every person to earn a profit BUT it is downright immoral the way Nuance conducts itself to make mega-millions while financially damaging the worker bees. Greed is very ugly.

I'm with the big MM, have been for almost 2 years, and I didn't start hating it until I switched to a new BOB a couple months ago. Came over with Acquisitions and I'm sorry I left my old group. I kick myself every day for leaving my peeps. This 99.7 thing has made me lose 20 pounds in less than 2 weeks. I've seriously thought of just cashing it all and quitting life, but I know I can't do that, been trying to find a new job in the MT business and outside of it. No one seems to want me anywhere. It's so frustrating. I'm so scared. I'm not even 40 yet and I feel my life is ruined. I have a long way to go before retirement. MModal has ruined my life.

Life is full of up's and downs, but nothing lasts forever. This is just another chapter of your life and you still got a lot of living to do and a future ahead of you. You're too young to be throwing in the towel. Get busy exploring *ALL alternatives and think about what will make you happy, what you want to do and set some goals and start working towards them. MModal is not "end-all, be-all" and neither is Nuance.

Take this as a sign that it's time to move on; and if you don't know what direction to go in, then pray for guidance. If you get fired for not making 99.7% then so be it, you tried.

And not to be harsh, but it sounds a little ridiculous to say "MModal ruined your life." I agree their QA standards are a bit far-fetched & I'm sure its stressful, but they are not in charge of your destiny.

I've been finding it extremely hard to stay focused anymore. I just dread opening another dictation because of how horrid it has become. I end up wandering off on the internet while waiting for the audio to load and coming back 10 or so minutes later. I can't blame anyone but myself for this, but I just cannot get myself into it like I used to be able to do.

I'm looking for the exit out of here. Haven't found it yet. I feel like I've wasted so much time doing this. I'm nearly 40 and feel I've ruined my life as well. I have to start over now, from scratch. Find a new career, go back to school. I'm further behind in life than I was at 20. At least at 20 I was just starting out. There was hope. Now, finding myself starting over, it's depressing. But is what it is.

I felt like I was starting over again. I did get blessed with another decent job outside of MT a year ago, not making as much as I use to before being outsourced, but definitely in a much better predicament than what I was in the couple years I was with the MTSO, my pay is reasonable and I know it's only going to continue to get better.

Things DO change, just stay optimistic and don't give up hope.

I know exactly how you feel. But believe me, you are not old being nearly 40. You have the whole world opened to you, even though you don't feel like it. I am where you are, I cant concentrate anymore on this job even though every shift I have a great "plan" and try to motivate myself. I am 54 and have had many jobs in the medical field and also went to 3.5 years of nursing school in my 50s so you are definitely not too old. just keep trying and maybe look into school, there are grants (Fasfa (sp)) that you can get these days. I would love to be almost 40 again lol. But I don't think age should be a factor at all in your dreams you want to accomplish.

I haven't been able to make a mortgage payment in 2 months or a car payment in 4 months. I'm on payment plans with my gas, electric and water bills and a month behind on cable (internet you know). I just got my EBT card (food stamps) yesterday and I got my approval for Medicaid last week, too. I am making a doctor's appointment as soon as I get my medicaid election made and it will be the first time in 3 years. How ridiculous is this?

This is EXACTLY the perfect example of what Nuance does to the American MTS. I love OUR country way too much to continue slaving for them. I am blessed to have resigned.

Please don't bash too much. I took this job, made my bed and have to lie in it. I can do it most of the time, but every now and then I miss it, sometimes by as much as 20 lines per hour. I have had 1 email asking that I use my time more productively and make the line count. I actually do use my time as productively as I can. I admit, although I have done this for years, I am not great with VR editing. My place of business has switched from a very streamlined transcription system to one that is VERY subpar. I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? I have read that most who are working full time or 8 hours a day are doing more than 1,000, even 2,000 a day. The company I will be working for wants a minimum of 10,000 lines in a payperiod which the lady said even with part time ...

Is this correct? I type 70,000 characters a day. I am paid by the 65 character line so I would divide 70,000 by 65 to get 1076, then multiple that by pay per line, say $.10 and get $107. If this is not correct then what is the formula? And what is the average number of lines per day? Thanks so much for the info. ...

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the easiest way to not count template lines when trying to invoice? I get a line count through Word, but I hear that Word counts blank spaces as well. I downloaded and use Flash Count, but it includes all 65 character lines, I beleive including the template headings. I hope this makes sense. Please help!! ...

I have been working for this company for about 18 month and so far so good. It was even bought out by a bigger company and everything stayed the same with no problems. They don't bother me, I do my work and everything is fine. About 6 months ago my line count started going way down and I really just chalked it up to not being able to concentrate as much because my baby started walking and basically making it impossible for me to work. I have been told that I need to increase my LPH. So last night I kept track of the lines of each document done by using MS Word. But later when I compared it to Nuance's line tracker (ichart) it only listed half the lines that MS Word listed. How can this be? I realized that Word my count blank lines, but how can there possibly be that much difference? I felt like I really kicked butt last night, but then to look at LPH with Nuance's ichart I felt cheated/ ...
