can't seem to meet the minimum line counts - Newnuancemt

I am new at Nuance - started in Nov. I am beginning to get frustrated though cause I just can't seem to meet the minimum line counts with VR or typing. Please, someone tell me it's not just me .... I know they give you 3 months to "get up to speed", but I don't think that is going to be long enough for me at the rate I am going. Do they terminate you if you aren't meeting line counts after 3 months? How long did it take some of you to be able to consistently meet the line counts? Thanks!

Nuance utilizes multiple platforms and it would be helpful to know which platform you use. In general, the only thing I can suggest to increase line counts (you may already do this) is to use your expander as much as possible. I use ShortHand excessively for edit commands, lists of doctors and meds and places, labs, etc. Oh, yeah, and for expanding words when I get the occasional straight-typing job, too. : )

I hope others chime in with ideas for you.

I started in October so my 3 months is coming up. I'm in the same boat. I only get close to the line counts on my good days, which are few and far between. *sigh* Wish I had some suggestions or tips to offer but I don't. Just looking for answers to the same questions.

Don't give up - I was in the same boat when I started back last year and I started off with a great line count but my accuracy was suffering so they recommended me slowing down and working on my accuracy which I did but of course then my lph took a dive. My TL was great and actually just moved me a different account and made the other one my secondary and now my LPH is up and so is my accuracy. They will work with you so don't panic. They aren't as bad as some of these people on here make them out to be.

I've asked my TL for suggestions, asked to be put on a different account. She said there weren't any other accounts for me. *shrug* First it was all about my accuracy so she told me to slow down. Two days later I got emails about lowering make-up pay. lol Anyways, she is working with me, and I'm grateful for that. Lately I've been taking the time to add to my expanders and auto corrects. So hopefully that'll give me the boost I need. I am hanging in here. Thanks:)

Ever since we been taken over by Nuance, and I've had to type my main account on the native platform, I can't seem to pick up line counts no matter how fast or how hard I try. It's very frustrating. They raised the line count to 6500 lines per week from when I first started 2 years ago of 5000. I used to be able to type a lot more. Been an MT for more than 10 years now. Have any MTSOs set a minimum number of lines per hour for VR Editing (per hour, day, week, or pay period)? For the sake of clarification, is the minimum line requirements really 150 LPH for all MTs on all accounts? I watched the recorded presentation this morning and am not really liking what I see. What happens if you don't make the 150 LPH??? Probation??? Firing?? Insurance was EXPENSIVE. I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what OSI cuts out of their line counts? Seeing as they use a remote website for line counts, it is pretty obvious they cut corners with what MTs get paid on. I was just wondering WHAT are the cutting? Do they only pay 1 space? Do they not pay if you copy and paste? Do they only pay on a % per page - meaning if you have little on 1 page you aren't going to get any credit for those lines, etc? Just curio ...

I know this has been discussed before, but what is up with these line counts? I used to have no problem doing 200+ lph. Now, I work at the same pace on an account with less ESL speakers and I struggle to get my required 150 lph. It is still 150 lines/hr for straight isn't it? (I think I've gotten a total of 3 straight transcription jobs in the last month). According to the Escript, I'm doing an average of 300 lph on VR but usually at the end of 8 hours, I don't top 1100 liines most days. On Dictaphone's ExSpeech, i used to consistently do 1800-2400 a day on a combination. I have noticed with EScript that 1 day a week, my lines will hit 1200-1300, and I even hit 1500 one day, yet the lph were still 300. It doesn't make sense. No, I do not take breaks. I kind of feel dumb even asking this question but how does one get these 300 lph counts I've read about on here? I have 12 years plus years experience and have only worked in 2 different hospitals. Hi - I have a question regarding counting templates. I have a new doc who wants me to only count what he dictates, and not the templated review of systems, past medical history, social history, etc. which is all unchanged (unless he says to change it). Do you cut and paste your work into a "count" file to get the total, or do you tell the doctor that it has to be included in the count. And what about the times he does make changes to the "templated items". I welcome any suggestions. ...

I am just curious as to what line count standards are out there. What are your line count requirements for the day and how much do you use your QA for things like missing encounters, unable to ID patients, incorrect work types?
