QC out of control - MT
Posted: Jun 12, 2013
It looks like I'm not alone judging by the posts I just read but have to vent anyway. Anyone else think QC is out of control? The minor things they are editing for defeats the whole purpose of having eScription. There are dictators I've done for years that I used to breeze right thru and now I find myself micromanaging every chart, to make sure every pause has a comma or period. All this is just slowing me down and then the clients wonder why their account is so far behind? I can't be the only one slowing themselves down after reviewing all the little things marked off for in Fiesa that are NOT detrimental to the patient's chart.
Exactly which is why I just work my hours. - mt2

I do not work OT. When there is no work, they don't care. I have a life outside this job.

I go super slow and still get "corrections" that are really just judgement calls.
I work a second job as an MME at M*Modal and they flat out said do NOT mark subjective things that are personal style issues. Of course MModal doesn't have a bonus system based on QA.
If it does not impact patient care it should not be counted off. PERIOD.

they don't have to pay you as much. Nuance rep made presentation at my hospital yesterday touting that they have 39% of hospitals in country and its a 548 million dollar industry..Nuance definitely not sharing any of those dollars with you guys, the ones doing the work enabling them to rake in millions. I am so disappointed my hospital contracted with them. Needless to say, all 15 of us will not transition to Nuance.
I don't blame you. I wouldn't either. - mt2

Of course they nitpick on QA, makes sense to NOT pay out bonuses. I know what I am capable of, but this QA crap makes me sick. I have been a MT for 30 years and no where has a QA counted off for anything that did not change the meaning of the sentence. This place is a joke.
Are you former Transcend? My TSM shared with - me that prior to Nuance some of

our QA specialists should not have been performing audits and they may not have been the most accurate giving many a false sense of "quality confidence." Now that things have changed, things are more noticeable that were overlooked prior. I wonder of these prior QA specialists are still in charge of our paychecks (i.e. bonus determination). If so, really sucks.
I guess it's really no surprise as the warnings were here regarding finding everything to boost nonpayment of bonuses. Maybe we just lived in a Transcend bubble and didn't want to believe this really would happen.
I'm done worrying about this. I'm only PT, have a job outside of transcription and when my number comes up so be it. I realize not everyone is in the same situation, but probably should be preparing for the non-future of this occupation (used to be a career, now it's just a job that pays less than fast food industry). Sad, but true.

The reason these VR jobs have to be so letter perfect is probably because they are being used for training and class work for offshore. So many accounts, so few offshore qualified VR transcriptionists. You are perfecting the VR files so offshore can learn to take over these accounts. When these jobs come up missing from your assigned jobs list, you will know you passed the 100% perfection mark - but you will never see that account again - back to square one. That is the way I see it.

They are scored per guidelines and QC is audited as well. Transcend let everybody slide.

Pain Control With ?CAD Infusion May 18, 2010This is a note on a patient with lymphoma.
"...pain is being controlled with cad infusion, with basal rate of 1 mg/hour".
Dictator pronounces "cad" (not individual letters c-a-d). Am aware of chemotherapy combos (i.e, cyclophosphamide, Adriamycin, dacarbazine, and cytosine, arabinoside, daunorubicin) but am wondering if they would be used for pain control. Also, earlier in the report, the dictator makes it sound as if chemo has been d/c'd.

USB Hand Control/SUM Program HELP!! Jun 05, 2010 I am in college right now for transcription, and am just getting in to using the SUM program... I start summer semester on Monday and am disabled with no use of my legs, I use the Phillips USB hand control in place of a foot pedal. Well SUM doesn't work with it... I tried downloading the audio files to my computer and then importing them in to Express Scribe, which DOES work with my hand control, and I guess the permissions on the files won't allow ES to open the files.

Nuance Trying To Do Damage Control May 16, 2013My friend works for a hospital who is being taken over by Nuance. They have the option to work for Nuance and had a meeting yesterday with several of the "higher-ups" from Nuance there. Along with the blatant lies about how they'll make so much more money than they're making now, this board was specifically mentioned in an attempt to do some damage control. They were told not to believe what they read on this board, disgruntled employees, BLAH BLAH BLAH. The fun ...

Do QA Percentages Include The Stuff That Is Out Of Our Control? Jan 21, 2013I'm an ex-Transcender and when I was approving my time sheet this morning I noticed that my time sheet said my percentage sent to QA was 20.2%. I have NOT sent this many reports to QA as blanks, but have sent a lot of stuff due to discrepancies, no demographics match, no dictation, etc. Are they seriously counting stuff that we have NO control over against us for purposes of denying bonuses? I asked my TSM if that would be the case after we got news of the new pay cuts and ...
