Morning All. We have to find a way to smile, or let them win totally. Go to youtube and search "We're Not Gonna Take It" and listen. I don't do links here. While this comment is perhaps tongue in cheek, we really DO need to make this our theme song and do something. S M I L E. Remember first and foremost, while some TSMs and perhaps some middle management care, the ones higher than that absolutely could care less about us. We DO need Norma Rae leading the way!

While the Amazon workers were unsuccessful - apparently Walmart must pay

Walmart workers won a wage theft lawsuit in Pennsylvania requiring Walmart to pay $151 million in back pay and damages.

The problem with wage theft for us is it usually is awarded on a state-wide basis and we are all over the place, but we are definitely victims of it here at Nuance, over and over again for years.

I do not know how we could go about filing a wage theft claim on a national basis, but if anyone else has an idea, please share. On the state level, I believe it is the attorney general who brings these cases.

This quote is especially apropos for Nuance:

"The $151 million is just a drop in the bucket for a company that paid its CEO $23.2 million in 2012, 1,034 times more than its average worker."

I don't believe TSMs/middle management care one bit! If they did, with their so called "input" on what matters, we wouldn't be where we are today! They are doing what they are told to do, right or wrong, and they don't "care," IMO, they are out for themselves.

Seems to me they do the least they can get away with, and not very good at what they do. Look at the way the work load is handled. Always out of work, yet watch the job numbers. To be out of work and yet the job numbers continuing by leaps and bounds should tell you something. The TLs are the worst. They never know answers, yet they are supposed to be there to help..help who??? IMO, help themselves, to pick and assign for themselves. When comes time for me to meet my Maker, I won't have to justify, but sure is going to be something to watch them all try to.

Ever get the feeling they are trying to get rid of you...example #1, if one is continually out of work in 2 accounts, and they are always hiring for other accounts on several boards, yet they don't allow you to go work or be moved to those accounts. Rotten...to the core.

I wasn't treated well before I came to Nuance and, upon joining this "team," I was amazed to find that I was formerly treated "well" in comparison.

I started with Transcriptions Ltd in Jan of 1981 and this job gave me the opportunity to work from home while I raised 3 wonderful boys. I am saddened that I'm going to quit, but I knew the end was coming for quite a while now. I am grateful that, at one time, this was a good job, a really good job. I'm very sorry for the younger MTs who would like to be able to do the same thing as I did; stay at home and raise their kids and make a living. I wish them all well ...

I am really tired of working for other people and have them treat you like dirt all the while making millions of bucks off our hard work. Has anyone looked into starting their own company? Thank you all for your kind words and prayers, well wishes or just encouragement, I got the office position job I applied for, took my drug test yesterday and will be starting training next week. I am so very excited to FINALLY be getting back out in the work force. I tried to hang on to being an MT as long as possible, have been job jumping for some time, but thought it would get better. Anyone know when the QC incentive is going to start? I kept running out of work as an MT, so decided to make the move to QC because they were supposed to start that incentive like 2 months ago now (false advertising, yay!) ... have been making nearly $200 less per paycheck since making the switch since I lost my weekly MT bonus, ugh. :( Anytime I ask my supervisor she just says she is mad about it as well and they won't give her a straight answer... mhmm. ...

Does anyone know of an MT company that employs full-time workers that are employees rather than independent contractors that pays 4 cents/line for SR editing and 8 cents/line for "regular" transcription from the very beginning once they hire you (rather than at Nuance where you have to "earn it" to go from 3.75 cents/line to 4 cents/line? How about 5 cents/line for SR editing and 10 cents/linge for regular transcription? Or is there no such thing? ...

OK transcriptionists.......We are all in the same boat that seems to be sinking. I am throwing everyone a life preserver. I know I can offer the doctors out there an easy way to dictate that is "clear, understandable, personable" (with transcriptionists assigned to their own personalized physicians).
