Swan song - Trampled underfoot

Posted: Sep 11, 2013

I started with Transcriptions Ltd in Jan of 1981 and this job gave me the opportunity to work from home while I raised 3 wonderful boys.  I am saddened that I'm going to quit, but I knew the end was coming for quite a while now.  I am grateful that, at one time, this was a good job, a really good job.  I'm very sorry for the younger MTs who would like to be able to do the same thing as I did; stay at home and raise their kids and make a living.  I wish them all well.

I'm feeling nostalgic right now for Transcriptions Ltd out of Feasterville, PA, John Donohue, Eileen, Lettie and the rest.  I know John took the golden parachute and threw us under the bus, but he just saw the writing on the wall a little earlier than the rest of us.  Ah well, I'm still grateful to him for hiring me in the first place.

I go way back too, but was fortunate to work in-house most of my career. You are right, it was a great job in all aspects including money, time-off, benefits, and most of all RESPECT.

My wish for the young MTs is to retrain in another career, even if it means moving back home to make ends meet. MT will never be the high-paying respected profession it once was.

I, too, was a TL MT who got thrown under the bus. Amazing how money becomes the most important thing in life? I gave many years to TL (am very experienced and good at what I do). In the end I got stabbed. Glad to be away from the whole d**m mess.

John Donohue was charged by SEC for fraud, a civil suit was also filed. He took a plea deal in both cases.

You brought back some good memories - I started at home with TL in 1988 - I left when MQ started with VR. I had some good years in between, but eventually got swallowed by Nuance. We worked hard, but we got paid well. Those were the days!

A Song To Start Your Day ..

Morning All. We have to find a way to smile, or let them win totally. Go to youtube and search "We're Not Gonna Take It" and listen. I don't do links here. While this comment is perhaps tongue in cheek, we really DO need to make this our theme song and do something. S M I L E. Remember first and foremost, while some TSMs and perhaps some middle management care, the ones higher than that absolutely could care less about us. We DO need Norma Rae leading the way! ...
